Time for progressives to push for the end of the joke that is the so called ‘bipartisan’ hard infrastructure bill.
This so called victory is full of concessions to Republicans who won’t lift a finger to lift the debt limit they ran up the bill on, nor will they help keep the government funded. They want us to own those chores, with only Dem votes.
They are not acting in good faith, so why in the world would we negotiate with them in good faith on such a bill, a reward they do not deserve? It gives them the ability to crow back in their districts about passing something they failed to do in 4 years under the twice-impeached, disgraced, one-term sore loser.
Meanwhile, the existence of this Senate-passed deal is used to kneecap actual Democrats who want to push the rest of the Biden agenda without Republican votes via reconciliation.
And Mitch McConnell snickers as he grasps his prize and spits in our faces, causing fights between our own party how to work around the crises he is creating.
No, no cookie for McConnell or any Republicans on infrastructure. Let’s vote down the bipartisan monstrosity, deprive Republicans of any victory, and take away the play things of Sens Manchin and Sinema.
Im sure I am preaching to the choir, but time to play hardball. One infrastructure bill only. Only by Dem votes. Ditch the bipartisan sham, and roll the good parts into our single reconciliation bill.
