“We are so proud to host California’s first ‘next generation’ regional visioning event focused on California’s Bay-Delta,” said Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla, Executive Director of Restore the Delta.
The symposium will cover Environmental Justice related topics such as climate change mitigation as an opportunity, sustainable agriculture, Harmful Algal Blooms, public access, cultural and historical resources, and water quality. The presentations and discussion will address how all these issues fit into planning for the Delta’s future in a rapidly changing climate.
“Our goal is to get young people educated about the current issues facing the Bay-Delta estuary and get more young people involved in California water planning,” said Artie Valencia, Community Organizer & Government Liaison for Restore the Delta.
Members of the public over 30 years old are welcome to attend as observers, but participation is reserved for the next generation of Delta leaders.
Speakers will include representatives from Baykeeper, Black Urban Farmers Association, Delta Stewardship Council, Edible Schoolyard, Edge Collaborative, Little Manila Rising, MBK Engineers, Restore the Delta, Public Health Advocates, San Joaquin History Museum, Save California Salmon, The Smithsonian, and the University of North Carolina.
