President Joe Biden just gave a quick talk about Covid and got his booster in front of the world.
His mini-speech on Covid hammered every point, from vaccines to tests to antiviral pills.
He talked about how far we’ve come, including the longest time where our hospitals are not over-stressed by covid cases and how we have vaccines available (for free) for most strains of the virus. We are the only large country with Paxlovid available free to anyone who tests positive. There are many places where the public can get free covid tests.
While we still have hundreds of people dying each day from covid, virtually all of those deaths were preventable. He laid out the ways you can prevent your own death from covid by taking the proper steps.
And the President also made the point that we are stepping into a season where people will be indoors together more and are at increased risk of flu and RSV.
Then, he got his booster.
(While reporters shouted questions at him, an incredibly crude and unseemly thing to do.)
When someone does a really stellar job, I think it is important to give them credit. Today, this guy was a star.
