Money. Political campaigns NEVER have enough of it, at least from what I can see from the texts on my phone. The message is always the same. “I’m about to be swamped with negative ads from my opponent, so can I can count on your support with $$$$$!” Seeing as I am always being pestered day and night, I decided to look at what the enemy — Republicans — is up with his campaign cash, at least the money we can see and not the dark money. The lastest move by the Satanic Snapping Turtle From Kentucky (Moscow Mitch) indicates that 1) he is moving resources to four states: AZ, GA, NV, and PA, and 2) he is still in a pissing contest with Peter Thiel.
What was the tip off to this was that the NRSC has decided they have spent enough money saturating the NH airwaves with ads attacking Maggie Hassan. The NRSC has bought $23 million dollars in ads to knock of Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan, who has been pleading with me that she will drown in Republican attack ads. However, the NRSC has decided they have spent enough and have reduced the amount of further money to spend against Hassan.
Senate Republicans’ campaign arm is pulling millions of dollars in spending from New Hampshire’s race to shore up other candidates across the board, as Democratic incumbent Maggie Hassan continues to poll ahead of her challenger.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee is canceling the remainder of its fall ad slate for New Hampshire after launching a coordinated ad with GOP nominee Don Bolduc earlier this week. The move comes as New Hampshire appears increasingly out of reach for the GOP, although Republicans still have millions more on the books for the final month of the campaign.
“We’re glad to see Republican outside forces showing up in a big way in New Hampshire, with millions in spending pledged to take down Maggie Hassan in the final stretch,” said Chris Hartline, a spokesperson for the NRSC.
The Mitch McConnell-aligned Senate Leadership Fund super PAC placed a $23 million ad buy in New Hampshire in September and has not changed its approach yet. To keep the state on the board, Republicans probably need the PAC and other groups to stay on the airwaves.
The NRSC initially reserved $9 million in the state, and AdImpact showed the party cutting $2.7 million in ads. Hassan leads by an average of 8 percentage points, according to 538.
This tells me that the NRSC doesn’t think their stellar candidate Bolduc will beat Hassan. And while Politico may not call this an obvious RETREAT! by the NRSC, The Hill sure as does.
GOP Senate campaign arm pulls money out of New Hampshire as Bolduc falters
What is reported by Politico is that Moscow Mitch will “shore up” candidates in AZ, GA, NV, and PA. Let’s see. Three out of four of those contests have really awful Republican candidates running in them. And at least on of those contest has a Peter Thiel monstrosity in them: Blake Masters in AZ. And from what I have seen, Mark Kelly is still ahead of Black Masters, so Thiel has decided to play Mighty Mouse and “Here I come to save the day!”
GOP megadonor Peter Thiel signals he is done helping Ohio Senate hopeful J.D. Vance, will fundraise for Arizona’s Blake Masters
Oh wait! That headline seems to confirm what was MISSING among the four contests that Moscow Mitch and his minions at NRSC are trying to shore up. Where the hell is J.D. Vance and Ohio?? As other observers have pointed out, OH should not be a contest at all for the Republicans! Yet, Tim Ryan has raised a bunch of money, and he is dead even with J.D. Vance!
Seems the Dark Money Sith Lord Thiel is going to protect his apprentice Masters, but he is cutting Vance loose.
Oh wait again! I don’t see WI in that list either. Does the GOP believe they have carpet bombed Mandela Barnes enough that Ron Johnson has WI in the bag? Or are they expecting some more help from their dark money donors (very probable).
I have to admit that I am nervous about NV, but the NRSC has decided to go all in on Walker in GA and Oz in PA? Really? Given the polls in GA, I suppose you could see that you just need to get the Homo erecti Republicans to simply get to the polls and vote. GA Republicans just love ignorant, stupid candidates. And Walker is just a waste of space.
But going all in on puppy killer Oz in PA? I suppose Moscow Mitch and his fellow Republicans can’t give up the ship without a fight, so we will see more ads that say Fetterman is a socialist cop hater who doesn’t eat crudite. Despite all the horse race “analysis” by the media, Fetterman has continued to be in the lead in PA. Yes, Oz went up in the polls, but it’s probably just fascists in PA coming home.
It is truly gob smacking to watch Republicans support the biggest grifters and most heinous humans all in the name of tribalism. I should be used to it by now, but I have to admit it’s depressing to see so many Americans embrace evil.
Anyway, I think this news demonstrates that Republicans might be going on offense in some states, but they have clearly retrenched in others that should have been safe for them like OH and WI.
