After showing themselves as being terrible at predicting political outcomes and what voters are focused on, the Media FINALLY has one good thing to celebrate about the 2022 Midterms. Trump is freaking out and has started to attack the darling of the Media Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
From Chris Cillizza of CNN:
Ron DeSantis is officially in Donald Trump’s head
...
In that same statement, Trump says that he effectively made DeSantis’ political career when he endorsed the then-congressman for governor in the 2018 election cycle. “Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017 – he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers,” argued Trump, referring to the GOP gubernatorial primary in Florida. “Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win.”
Trump has seemed particularly focused on DeSantis of late. On Election Day, Trump seemed to threaten the Florida governor. “I would tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering – I know more about him than anybody – other than, perhaps, his wife,” Trump told Fox News Digital.
Emphasis is mine.
Politico:
Trump goes to war against DeSantis
Gotta love that headline from Politico.
Trump and DeSantis are on a 2024 collision course as the Florida governor’s national stock has risen, an ascent punctuated Tuesday night after DeSantis won reelection in Florida by nearly 20 points and Trump-backed candidates across the country largely underperformed.
DeSantis won Florida by historic margins in what was once the nation’s largest swing state. Conservative media institutions like Fox News have appeared to side with DeSantis, as has the New York Post, a Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid that ran a front page headline calling DeSantis “DeFuture” the day after the election.
“NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post, is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious,” Trump said.
Emphasis mine again.
The headline from the — ahem — esteemed gray lady in NYC is this: “After Governor’s Win, DeSantis Grabs National Spotlight”
The same NYT that declared a red wave this year just a few days ago.
From Business Insider:
Trump goes after DeSantis, saying he didn't have to 'close up' Florida, even though most conservatives praised the governor's COVID-19 response
This is the pot calling the kettle black. Both of them have blood on their hands, yet the Media still thinks that DeSantis did a GREATE JOB during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the worst part about the Media’s love for DeSantis. They politicized a public health crisis and ignore all those bodies.
And here is Forbes chiming in:
Trump Castigates Ron DeSantis—And Fox News—As Conservative Outlets Blame Him For Midterm Results
And here is the part of the Forbe’s article that will make you vomit:
Right-wing pundits loathed worse-than-expected Republican results in the midterms, with many blaming Trump’s continued stranglehold over the party for driving turnout against the GOP, dwindling an expected “red wave” into little more than a ripple. Republicans appear to still be favorites to take the House, but many observers think the GOP will win fewer House seats than expected, and Trump-endorsed candidates like Mehmet Oz (who ran for Senate in Pennsylvania) and Tudor Dixon (who vied for governor in Michigan) lost to Democratic opponents. DeSantis represented one of the few shiny-bright spots for Republicans on Tuesday, as he cruised to victory in the biggest landslide win for any Florida governor in 40 years. DeSantis won 62 of Florida’s 65 counties and carried every demographic group considered key to Republican success, including suburban voters, women and the Hispanic community. The governor even won Miami-Dade County, a heavily Hispanic area that is the seventh-most-populous county in the U.S., which Republicans have been hoping to flip for years. Many conservative commentators believe DeSantis is more palatable for independents and moderate voters, who have long been turned off by Trump's polarizing attacks and personal baggage. DeSantis would also offer an influx of youth into Republican leadership—the governor is 44 years old, while Trump is 76.
Emphasis mine again. Super Ron DeSantis! More palatable to “moderate” and “independent” voters.
I could grab a whole bunch of more news announcements and articles, but I think you get the gist by now. The Media thinks that Ron DeSantis is just oh so powerful and hot, while Trump is now yesterday’s cold shit sandwich. The same Media that created Trump now wants DeSantis.
Frankly, I would have been far happier if Crist had won. It would have been a body blow to “palatable fascism” that DeSantis represents. I have no clear idea what went wrong in Florida. I do not live there. What I do know is that Floridians have delivered up manna from heaven for the Media to finally have their big fight. A clash of titans! Trump versus DeSantis. And may the better fascist win!
