I have the upmost respect for Amazon. Some of their Mom and Pop Stores are some of the best online. I definitely have my favorites. But Amazon is being taken over by a bunch of thugs right in front of Andy Jassy. It wasn’t just on Jassy’s watch either. This Covid-19 has brought out the beast in people.
I have never gone through so much just to purchase items before. One day I saw a message that I needed to purchase my favorite bath product now because it was getting low. Well it was getting low at home, I checked the product was fine showed no signs of being low online everyone had it, and there were no limits on the purchase.
Other times a regular everyday product goes on sale just to have it go up twice in price once the product is in your cart for ten minutes. This happened to coffee. All together two cans around $15.00 and some change. In the cart it was $58.00 and some change.
I refuse also to purchase overseas from certain countries because i just don’t believe Amazon has good protections in place for their United States customers. I have already been screwed once and I don’t need another time. Once is enough for me. This block I put in place is not for ALL countries, just a few. My last purchase came from Japan. It was a great purchase.
I will talk a bit about the latest scam going on… Pretty innocent. “They have 3-6 left of an item you must purchase as soon as possible! Don’t fall for it. They started this scam back last year around October, November.
Even after you purchase they still have 3-6 items left of the product. Even a month later they have 3-6 items left. Go ahead and check. Check several times. I don’t know how they manage to pull this off because I thought it had to do with inventory that the stores have to keep updated in order to be a part of Amazon’s search?
They also have a scam related to the Covid-19 too. Not all products are scarce. Just a select few. I do believe we need an active list of these items listed on ALL store fronts. Because some stores are lying just to put this item on their covid list shortage, and jack the price up. The thing is they are the only ones I came across that jacked the price up. I was lucky to catch it, but other people may not have.
The Chinese store fronts have their own scam too. Either that or they are cleverly set up. Everything looks great until the product is in the cart and you just need to click one more time then wait on the item to arrive and you go over the specs again and notice you have to wait a month or two for the product to arrive. Why would you order something that won’t arrive for two months and you are almost out of the product?
Personally I would color code these companies scamming the public. Twice in one day something fishy happened? flag them. All out of country should be marked.
Maybe what Amazon needs now is a consumer Advocate? Someone that Amazon will listen too and actually listen to the consumer recommendations? Does Amazon know this stuff is going on?
Either that or we need someone that will keep up with Amazon and these other merchandise stores that have consumer memberships. Their scams, perks, etc.
It’s also true that advertising is now the crucial part of Amazon. Hell you have to scroll though the ads just to get to the real content. and don’t fret Amazon, Walmart’s membership service has it’s issues too. They seem to be out of everything and if they are not, then you still have to hurry up and purchase and then wait after your purchase because they are fixing to be out of that item too.
OH! here is the best tip I can give you. Cranberries had a bad season this year run and get your can or bag early before they actually do run out. If you end up with the bag of fresh three to four weeks early you are fine. If stored correctly, fresh cranberries will last in the refrigerator for three to four weeks. If you opted to freeze them, they'll keep well for up to a year. I just freeze the berries, it doesn’t hurt them and you don’t have to second guess your fridge.
This info is my own and not DailyKos. I don’t hate either company I do business with both and have
no intentions on stopping purchases unless they go to hell. Neither company are there as of yet. This is written mainly as a warning because things at these giants are escalating. At this time I believe it is a few taking advantage of situations brought on by Covid-19 at the expense of the public on a platform too big to keep up. Maybe they should split up? Tech store, home, and personal care?
