UPDATE:I
fell down last night and injured myself. I have been waiting all day for them to bring an x-ray machine to our nursing home and be prescribed pain meds. I can not wait any longer so I am having them call an ambulance to take me into my second home, this hospital.
As a result I will not be able to learn from some of the comments, rec most of them, and appreciate everyone’s input. Have a safe night, everyone.
Is there a general rule of respect of others that we should follow? I respect the lives and belief structures of others as long as they bring no harm to others,
As a gay, Jewish man for example I respect that others have different series of belief than I do, I openly form friendships and fight for the rights of others I am not a member of their same group. Life is too short to not accept others because they disagree with you,
This is one of the main differences I see between us and our opponent party.
Do not get me wrong, though. As a member of two minority groups who have faced attacks for being “different” my bark is not worse than my bite.
But the vast majority of those who are not gay nor Jewish are not members of some neo-nazi cult, lika MAGA who would call for my destruction.
If I am approached by, or at a friends house of someone who is from another culture I would never belittle nor attack them.
And I respect the same from others,
That is why I am very sensitive, somewhat too much so when I meet someone who proclaims loudly their anti-religion. Many of my friends here and in the meat world are not Jewish, do not get me wrong, I understand where and why they are coming from, I just disagree in matters of the acceptance of faith
But some individuals broad brush us theists into a giant straw man I think, calling us idiots, brainwashed, Republicans, no good as progressives,, etc,
One thing I do as a Jewish person is not write out the word G-d with all three letters. I would never ask you to do the same in my diaries or in my speech, just to respect my use of what I do.
Here is my reasoning for doing as myself and others do: here
Again it comes down to respect
