Last Monday, a man in Florida failed in his attempt to sneak a firearm past TSA security at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The passenger, who was en route to Port-au-Prince, had his plastic-wrapped gun stuffed inside a baking hen, which was packed inside his carry-on luggage. The finding was posted on the Instagram account of the Transportation Security Administration.
There’s a personal fowl here…
The plot chickens as we barrel our way closer to Thanksgiving. For us, it’s a time to be thankful that our officers are always working around the cluck to keep you safe. Take for instance this “hen you believe it?” find at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. We hate to beak it to you here, but stuffing a firearm in your holiday bird for travel is just a baste of time. This idea wasn’t even half-baked; it was raw, greasy, and obviously unsupervised. The only roast happening here is this poor packing choice!
Feather you like it or not, there are rules for traveling with guns and ammunition. So, don’t wing it; roost over the proper packaging info through the link in our bio.

According to TSA regulations, firearms must be unloaded and placed inside a strongly secured lock-sided container, to be transported as checked luggage only. Any firearms or ammunition must be declared beforehand at the check-in counter. (Local, state, and international governments have differing laws when it comes to the transport of guns.)
It is not known whether the passenger faced arrest or a civil penalty of up to $13,910 per violation, per person. But passengers have brought a record number of guns across TSA checkpoints in Florida airports this year; a majority of these guns were found loaded. Already, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Tampa International Airport (TPA) are perennial appearances when it comes to the top airports where passengers brought a gun through security checkpoints, given that these aforementioned airports appear frequently inside the Top 11.
