Whether or not billionaire Elon Musk has an actual plan for Twitter remains to be seen. Since Musk officially became the owner—with Saudi Arabian partners—of the social media platform, the transition has been … bad.
Whether it’s the seeming lack of moderation, the decimation of the company’s workforce, or the bizarre ideas to charge for “free speech,” every idea so far from Musk’s account has been … bad. The sad fact is that the world’s richest man can easily take control of an enormous communications platform virtually overnight and run it into the ground and remain the world’s richest man. That’s… bad.
But what is funny in a macabre way is that the richest man in the world thinks his ideas are good, and his ego is such that watching Musk embarrass himself publicly offers up a kind of satisfaction, albeit a small one.
Twitter users, knowing that their days may be numbered, are making sure to use up all of that “free speech” Musk is offering before the knocks at the doors begin happening.
