Chris Paul has long been recognized as an historically great point guard. Who can forget his move against Pau Gasol in the Olympics to help seal a close game in the Olympic finals for Team USA. Since Steve Nash, Chris Paul has been recognized as the best point guard in the league (Curry is more a shooting guard in my estimation despite his assist average. ) with Deron Williams being second. He makes his teammates better as did Steve Nash. What makes him dangerous is he is an excellent midrange and 3 point shooter and his basketball IQ is near the top of all NBA players ever. He is a leader. It said something really great about him that he went back to school to graduate even with his financial future and present secure.
.
That he chose to go to and graduate from an HBCU is, in my mind, extremely important. Funding all those graduating this semester from Winston-Salem State by itself would have been more than impressive. However, it says even more about him that he chose to fund those graduating this semester from Winston-Salem State with $2,500 at a Black owned bank, Greenwood. He is multiplying the effect of his actions for the African American community by the combination of choices he intentionally made in order to benefit the African American community. It attracts positive attention for Winston-Salem State that he chose that university when he decided to return to school. That choice benefits the African American community. He became a positive example (not that he wasn't already) for others who admire him as a basketball player including other African Americans when he decided to return to school and graduate despite his financial security. He started these college graduates on the right path by establishing bank accounts for them and putting $2,500 in each account as the vast majority of recent college graduates are unlikely to have these resources upon graduation. That he did this using a Black owned bank, Greenwood Bank, multiplies the benefit for the African American community.

"Winston-Salem State is a historically Black university. At the beginning of the graduation ceremony, Paul got rousing applause when it was announced he is funding a bank account from Black-owned Greenwood for each graduate that will have $2,500 in value."

Thank you Chris Paul !!!!
