Good afternoon, everyone!
I’m not trying to start a pie fight; distinctions need to be drawn about what needs to be done before someone is hurt or killed. I’m not trying to be hyperbolic; it makes me angry and frustrated with the inaction of West Lubbock Texas School officials not doing their job, resulting in Black parents, along with the Lubbock NAACP and the Intercultural Research Development Association, suing the school district.
It’s not “funny”, “edgy”, or “cool” to use the n-word or any racial epithet.
It’s not funny when a child is affected by the actions of other children or school staff.
One of those children bravely mentioned she has suicidal thoughts singing moving to this community and attending this school district due to the constant and persistent racial harassment.
Here’s an excerpt from the Texas Tribune about this atrocious situation.
Lubbock parents are grappling with sending their children to schools where they may not feel safe because of their skin color or religion, particularly with officials at the helm who parents no longer trust.
“They know that there’s a problem but they don’t want to do anything about it,” said Tracy Kemp, a mother of three kids in the Lubbock-Cooper district and a participant in the federal complaint. “They would rather us leave than to change.”
I emboldened that portion because there are parents going through this same situation.
It doesn’t have to be Lubbock Texas. What makes it infuriating is the “racism has no place” statement, the “concern”, and the gaslighting when caught not doing the right thing. Those school officials knew this was going on and did nothing to the students and staff who participated in this abomination.
I hope the parents and students get their money.
It was and always be about accountability.
