When a racist jerk shows the world who he really is, we should believe him.

Tesla released Musk's May 31 [2017] email in response to a lawsuit filed Monday that alleges racial discrimination and harassment at the company. The email, titled "Doing the right thing," is a lengthy directive from Musk about how Tesla workers should treat each other.
"In fairness, if someone is a jerk to you, but sincerely apologizes, it is important to be thick-skinned and accept that apology," Musk wrote in part of the email. "If you are part of a less represented group, you don't get a free pass on being a jerk yourself."

[Marcus] Vaughn claimed that coworkers and supervisors regularly called him the n-word, and that the company -- including Musk -- was notified and did nothing to stop it. He also claimed he was fired last month for "not having a positive attitude."

"In light of CEO Musk's message to employees that racist epithets can be directed 'unintentionally' and that it is 'important to be thick-skinned,' it is not surprising that the Tesla factory has become a hotbed for racist behavior," the lawsuit said.

Excusing and condoning the illegal workplace behavior, may get silence applause a wink-and-a-nod from Wall Street — but from a jury of the abused employees peers, not so much ...
A San Francisco federal court jury on Monday ruled that Tesla must pay $137 million to a Black man who said he endured racist abuse while working at the company's Fremont, California, plant as an elevator operator.
Owen Diaz was hired at the factory via an agency in 2015. According to CNBC, he told the court that colleagues would verbally abuse him and other Black workers, for example telling him to "go back to Africa." He also said racist graffiti was scrawled in the bathrooms, CNBC reported.

Tesla was ordered to pay $1 million to a Black former employee named Melvin Berry in August. Berry started working at Tesla in 2015 but said he resigned a year later. Berry said supervisors called him the N-word and that he saw racist graffiti in the workplace

Diaz told The Daily Beast he was considering using some of the money he was awarded to start his own business and then hire former prisoners and people experiencing homelessness.

At Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk was a jerk with a grand vision. At Twitter, he's just a jerk.
Take his callous treatment of Twitter's employees. The stories coming from the company's San Francisco headquarters are certainly ugly: thousands of workers fired days before Thanksgiving, brutal working schedules that have pushed the remaining employees to sleep in the office, and a general culture of fear and mistrust. The lack of respect for his employees is galling, but across all of his business ventures, Musk has proven himself to be a miserable boss. Tesla and SpaceX are known for their grueling workplace culture. SpaceX agreed to pay employees $4 million in 2016 as part of a settlement after they sued the company for failing to provide work breaks and adequate wages. Tesla factory workers have been intimidated by the company for trying to unionize, and as part of the union push, workers at its California factory said in 2017 they were underpaid compared to their unionized autoworker peers. Tesla has for years been castigated for safety violations at its factories, and has already been hit with lawsuits for its treatment of construction workers at its new Texas plant. And of course, there's the racism that Musk refused to do anything about. A judge ruled in 2021 that Tesla had to pay $137 million to a Black man who was subjected to racist taunts while working as an elevator operator at the company's factory in Fremont, California.

Fast forward to the latest Elon Musk debacles:
When Musk was told of the 300 automated “inauthentic” accounts spewing hate on his new soapbox acquisition, Musk protected the hate speech trolls — instead of their victims. Musk then fired the voices of reason, trying to nip the increase in hate speech at its source. Fired abruptly, without cause or reason …

Twitter on Monday night
abruptly dissolved its Trust and Safety Council, the latest sign that Elon Musk is
unraveling years of work and institutions created to make the social network safer and more civil.
Members of Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council received an email with the subject line, “Thank You,” that informed them the council was no longer “the best structure” to bring “external insights into our product and policy development work.”
The email dissolution arrived less than an hour before members of the council were expecting to meet with Twitter executives via Zoom to discuss recent developments, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the plans.
[...]
When the director of that Trust and Safety Council raised a fuss about being abruptly fired — Musk personally doxxed the man, from his new seat of power/abuse — from Musk’s own personal Twitter account — he let his unfounded accusations fly ...
And his alt-right mob descended, as if on cue, standing by … to enforce Elon’s every Q-tainted insinuation:
Washington Post — 12/12/2022
Yoel Roth, Twitter’s former head of trust and safety, and his family were forced from their home after Elon Musk’s tweets misrepresented Roth’s academic writing about sexual activity and children. The online mob also sent threats to people Roth had replied to on Twitter, forcing some of Roth’s family and friends to delete their Twitter accounts, according to a person familiar with Roth’s situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to concerns about Roth’s safety.
[...]
Musk tweets about Roth recalled the QAnon conspiracy movement, which claims incorrectly that Democratic Party leaders direct a child sex abuse network.
“Looks like Yoel is arguing in favor of children being able to access adult Internet services in his PhD thesis,” Musk tweeted Saturday, attaching a screenshot of Roth’s dissertation.

Elon Musk is an abusive Jerk. And vindictive petty tyrant boss, to boot.
If he never gets another Government contract again, it can’t be soon enough.
If the shareholders of his companies were smart, they’d form a hostile takeover of their own — and show the abusive, hate speech-enabling Jerk, the door. (… By the next quarterly meeting, if they were smart.)
Tesla stock is in the midst of its worst-ever drawdown
