The Colorado State Open Thread is open for all sentient beings whether you have hands, feet, tentacles, pseudopods, hooks, tails or any combination of the above. All we ask is a means to perceive these stories, a brain to comprehend them and hopefully a way to interact and share your thoughts and opinions. If you can, please add comments about whatever is on your mind below. Thanks.
I’m going to kick off a new challenge with this week’s Open Thread. Our state has a number of noteworthy places, subjects, people, events and things that interest not just myself, but also the readers of this series of stories. Instead of using the Colorado COmmunity image that dominated the first two hundred or so of these stories:
which is, of course, the Denver skyline taken many skyscrapers ago, I’m going to start posting pictures of people, places and / or things at the top of each diary, which could include events, foods, or other challenges to see whether you are able to figure out what that is an image of. These images will be identified in the following week’s Open Thread, in case you need help identifying whatever it was.
I welcome submissions from the readers of the Open Thread. Please send them directly to me rather than posting them within an Open Thread, because then people would see them early and might identify them in the comments. You can send them to me at my Kos mail address (ColoTim2010 at gmail.com) or if you have my regular email address from some other source, send it to me there. Please also let me know if you’ve sent me anything because I don’t tend to check that gmail address often.
The photo at the top of this diary should be easy to figure out, if you don’t know right away the answer to the question posed under the picture. It even tells you where to find out what this is referring to. I’m not trying to stump readers; I am trying to broaden your horizons of our state and perhaps give you something new to learn about. Those of you who are familiar with my photos know that most of mine are taken in the mountain areas in the northern Front Range, as well as areas around Denver. It’s just where I’ve hung out the most. I do have a number of pictures, however, from different areas around the state and I’ll try and have a variety. They won’t necessarily be landmarks or static objects. The only guarantee I’ll make is that they were taken within the boundaries of the state.
Also, I may, for example, post a photo like this:
and this is a picture of a Kossack meetup at my house in Denver. I won’t usually dig back into past history too far (this was a few years ago) but the answer I’d be looking for would be “A party for Kossacks” and the hint would be the T-shirt I’m wearing that is in the DKos ordering store, plus it might appear to folks that food is being shared by people at a party. If I had been advertising this meetup in recent stories, then I would consider this a fair-game picture.
If you still have questions, or just have something on your mind that you’d like to share with others, please post a comment down below. I hope you enjoy the photo challenges and I look forward to any other photos you’d like to share with your fellow readers. And now, the floor is yours ...
