I feel lately that when I write I have to write explanations of things that should be pretty well understood without needing a lot of detail, but boy oh boy do Republicans seemingly need the details. First, before we begin, I would like to add that I do not do drugs, have never done drugs, do not smoke or intake things that aren’t over the counter or prescribed. So, out of the way I want to say that to clear the air.
There are certain things, however, that are easy to establish because, well, it doesn’t take a whole lot to understand how biological facts of a human being work and what these accusations leveled by Madison Cawthorn actually mean.
It is obvious that several Republicans would be upset with this claim by Representative Cawthorn. It definitely undermines their goal of presenting themselves as the “party of morals”. They realize that because even they know the most basic rules of any event in their life.
First, replace the word “orgy” with “party”. Let’s pretend we aren’t talking about a sexual event, but talking about just a standard let’s all go to a house party. The reason I say this is because if you aren’t getting invited to go hang out at someone’s house for a normal party, there is definitely no way they are inviting you over to have sex with random people they know, their spouses, or to be in a place where they are exposed to great risk. In other words: people understand early in their lives when they are welcome to come to a party and when they aren’t, and the more intimate a party the smaller audience. People don’t invite everyone over for a wedding anniversary or a birthday. So, repeating this point again: his claim is nonsense.
I really don’t need step two. If you are not getting invited inside of someone’s house as a friend, then stop, do not pass go.
So, the question for Representative Cawthorn is simple: name names or admit it is all bullshit. I’m good with that because I can’t believe a single Democratic representative would let them within a few hundred feet of their residence, let alone inside.
Representative Cawthorn also doesn’t make clear where his fellow representatives have gained access to cocaine in enough volume to feed a party like this, as that would certainly put them into the category of distribution and carry a significant time in federal prison. In fact, depending on how they accessed it and the fact multiple people were present (an orgy is not two people), then it would be seen as a criminal conspiracy to distribute, a violation of 21 U.S.C. § 846, which carries a sentence of no less than ten years in federal prison.
So, Representative: who invited you? Who was there? Name names. You assumed this was about claiming your morality. Instead, you’ve pointed out you attended an event where people may have been in a state they could not give consent due to the use of drugs, you witnessed that, and you did absolutely nothing. You claim you know these people, and you sat on your hands until you could make a point.
