This ride is for Bob Johnson and sfbob. Hours and hours of pushing to roll a little further is so fun. It's hard as hell, but there's nothing better for me to do.
Check out my overloaded rig. There's no motor yet, but I've got the 50 W solar to handle it. It's super nice to have power for lights and devices when Busta wants to run 20 miles and we get to camp at midnight.
We've overnighted before, but this is our first trip going out a few days and back. We're trying to do the St Louis to Columbia, MO loop on the Katy trail. If that and money work out, we're looking to go further in the future.
Let me also send out recognition of my parents, Red and Mary Walk,
along with my sister Mary, and friends Smitty and Booker. Hoping you can run, bike, swim, or whatever you enjoy without pain and frustration.
Special thanks to Tim and the crew at Sunset Cyclery. I nearly died on the hills of Chesterfield and wouldn't have made it 10 miles without the new lower gears you found for me. I've tried several places over the last year, including the one below, without luck, until I was smart enough to come back to you.
On our late ride, we passed farmers staying out as late as us to make us all kinds of food and commodities, with bean planted this week here in eastern MO, I'm guessing.
Thanks to Big Shark bikes for having the nice headlight I used till midnight while Busta ran along checking out all of the night creatures on the Katy trail, and to another Bob we met yesterday who bought us dinner and gave us a hopeful blessing on our way out of town.
Extra special thanks to Cori's Twin Gables in Marthasville, MO for welcoming Busta and me, for supplying so much great food and drinks, for the concert that I followed in the last few miles at midnight, and, most of all, for directing these weary travelers to the best place to put up our tarp shelter.
Most of all, thanks Yunfeng and kids. You do more for me than anybody else.
Took a shower and had big lunch at Cori's. It's a late start today, but rain coming through. That gives me time to post this. Maybe we'll get 30 miles in. We've got the lights and power to go late now.
