Damn straight:
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer tore into Tucker Carlson and Fox News on Monday following a mass shooting in Buffalo that left 10 people dead in what authorities have said was a racially motivated attack.
Schumer referred to a New York Times investigation that found Carlson, cable TV's highest-rated host, brought up elements of the white supremacist conspiracy theory known as "the great replacement theory" in more than 400 episodes of his show. The theory baselessly claims that white people are being replaced by people of color and will ultimately become extinct. Carlson has repeatedly argued that Democrats want to force demographic change on the US through immigration as a way to retain and grow their political power.
"According to one measure by the New York Times, Fox's top political pundit, Tucker Carlson, has spewed rhetoric that echoes replacement theory at least 400 hundred, 400 hundred times on his show since 2016. 400 times," Schumer said during a speech on the Senate floor. "This is a poison that is being spread by one of the largest news organizations in our country."
He didn’t just call out Fox News either:
Speaking on the floor of the US Senate on Monday, Mr Schumer excoriated conservatives for spreading what he said were “echoes” of the same ravings that the suspect in the mass shooting that occurred over the weekend in Buffalo espoused in a lengthy manifesto posted online before the attack.
“Unfortunately, with each passing year it seems harder and harder to ignore that the echoes of replacement theory and other racially-motivated views are increasingly coming out into the open, and given legitimacy by some MAGA Republicans and cable news pundits,” said the Democratic Senate leader.
He went on to reference an investigation published by The New York Times published earlier this year that found Fox News’ Tucker Carlson had expressed views in line or similar to “replacement theory” in at least 400 episodes of his show.
Heads up:
What's happening: President Joe Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer are heading to Buffalo, N.Y., on Tuesday to pay respects to the victims of a racist mass shooter who killed 10 people and wounded three over the weekend.
In a Senate floor speech Monday, Schumer stated that he will be traveling with the president, along with First Lady Jill Biden and others, to visit the families of the victims and talk with local officials investigating the attack.
Schumer also slammed conservatives for disseminating racist and xenophobic ideologies, such as replacement theory, that influenced the shooter to target mostly Black victims.
We need to defeat this MAGA cult big time this year and we can do that by giving Schumer a real Senate Majority. Click below to donate and get involved with these Senate Democratic incumbents and candidates campaigns:
