I see the headlines once again, plastered across the banners of the major American newspapers; 19 children and two teachers, killed in the small town of Uvalde, west of San Antonio. On May 14, it was a mass shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York. I am no longer numb, I am no longer outraged, as I have come to, not only accept these tragedies, but to expect them. Often.
As a nation; as a country, we refuse to do anything to try and prevent these types of incidents from occurring. In fact, as a country; as a nation, we continue to put in place, people and policies that only continue to allow this to happen.
So let us not pretend that we care. Sure, there are individuals who care; organizations, and some policy makers who care. But as a country; as a nation, we refuse to do anything about any of it. And the carnage continues.
