There will be marches this Summer. Prior Summers have proven that everyone should be prepared before engaging in peaceful protest. Not everyone agrees, however.
Apparently, the wearing of body armor counts as an offensive weapon in some locales even though armored clothing, blankets, and backpacks are being sold or proposed for the protection of children. We know that from the massacre in Buffalo that body armor is certainly no guarantee of protection, even for security personnel. You cannot ship body armor to some states, even as you can order it over the phone.
"If you own or wear body armor regularly, it's important to know the legalities and restrictions of traveling with your gear. While some airlines and countries have different policies, traveling with body armor isn't as difficult or expensive as some may think as long as you're prepared." If you carry your body armor in your checked bags, you should have no problem with airport security.
The simple answer is yes, body armor such as bulletproof vests or plate carriers are legal to own and wear in most states, and therefore this also applies to other ballistic gear such as bulletproof backpacks.
In most states, it is okay to wear body armor as long as you are not an ex-convict. However, it is a mistake to assume that this is the law in your state. Since the laws governing body armor use vary widely from state to state, you should do your research to find out what the current laws are.
It is mostly legal for an adult to purchase body armor and use it by wearing it; however, in the United States, some states are stricter than others. If you're convicted of a violent felony, you are not allowed to purchase or wear it in most states. Some states forbid you to wear body armor depending upon the crime you have committed in the past.
Actually in some places, that is illegal. Not so much illegal itself, but illegal to wear while committing a crime in states like Kentucky. Wearing body armor in a riot isn't a good idea anyhow. It really wouldn't work against most of the weapons members of the riots use…
WASHINGTON (AP) — Angered by the unrelenting toll from gun violence, tens of thousands of people are expected at rallies this weekend in the nation’s capital and around the United States demanding that Congress pass meaningful changes to gun laws.
The second March For Our Lives rally will take place Saturday in front of the Washington Monument, a successor to the 2018 march organized by student protestors after the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.
Now with recent shootings from Uvalde, Texas, to Buffalo, New York, bringing gun control back into the national conversation, organizers of this weekend’s events say the time is right to renew their push for a national overhaul.
“Right now we are angry,” said Mariah Cooley, a March For Our Lives board member and a senior at Washington’s Howard University. “This will be a demonstration to show that us as Americans, we’re not stopping anytime soon until Congress does their jobs. And if not, we’ll be voting them out.”
About 50,000 participants are predicted to turn out in the District of Columbia, with rain in the forecast. That’s far less than the original march, which filled downtown Washington with more than 200,000 people. This time, organizers are focusing on holding smaller marches at an estimated 300 locations.
