Let’s celebrate Gene Wilder’s Birthday, who was born as Jerome Silberman on June 11, 1933. He would have been 89 today; he died on August 29, 2016.
I would imagine that there is hardly anyone here who has not admired and enjoyed Gene Wilder’s works over the years from Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) to his roles in Mel Brooks films such as The Producers (1967), Blazing Saddles (1974) and Young Frankenstein (1974), and his collaboration with Richard Pryor in films such as the Silver Streak (1976), Stir Crazy (1980), See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) and Another You (1991).
So, this is a simple diary with some pics and videos of films I am familiar with. Let’s hear from you about your favorite films, scenes and dialogues and your opinion of Gene Wilder the actor and Gene Wilder the person.
Gene and Gilda got married on September 14, 1984. She died in 1989 of ovarian cancer.
Following Radner's death, Wilder became active in promoting cancer awareness and treatment, helping found the Gilda Radner Ovarian Cancer Detection Center in Los Angeles and co-founding Gilda's Club, a support group to raise awareness of cancer that began in New York City and now has branches throughout the country.
