ICYMI, the Party of “Family Values” is running Herschel Walker for Senate in Georgia, against the Rev. Raphael Warnock (D). He’s overqualified in a sense:
The former Heisman winner stands accused of hiding from the public three children that he had with multiple women outside of marriage. And both Walker and his oldest son, Christian Walker, have been critical of absent fathers. The Daily Beast reported that at least one of the mothers of Walker’s unacknowledged children had to take legal action to receive child support payments.

Walker gets a pass on this from evangelicals because… Jesus:
Paulina Macfoy, an Atlanta resident attending the conference, said “Jesus Christ will answer” the question of how Walker’s parenting decisions square with his faith and his repeated criticism of absent fathers. Macfoy maintained that she believes Walker is a “good candidate” because he “stands for family,” and said it was a “waste of time” to report on his personal life.
“He who is without sin, cast the first stone,” she said.

Funny how Donald Trump constantly throwing stones is no problem for these types. Come for the Family Values, stay for the sanctimony. Jesus is the ultimate evangelical “Get out of Hell FREE!” card. As Lincoln didn’t say, “With malice towards all, with charity for the select few, let’s rip the nation’s wounds wide open in the name of Jesus.”
TheCriticalMind has a run-down of GOP Senate candidates — here’s what he has on Walker.
Georgia (Toss-up)
Incumbent Rev. Raphael Warnock (52) will face Herschel Walker (60). Walker is one of the GOP’s most notorious candidates. His main asset is 100% name recognition as a UGA Heismann Trophy winner and national NCAA FB champion.
However, he is deeply flawed with a history of lying about graduation, academic rank, and business success. He claimed to have started a veterans’ charity for which he is merely a spokesman. He is a spousal abuser, a fan of Russian roulette, with admitted anger management issues and multiple-personality disorder. He has blamed absent fathers for social deterioration in minority neighborhoods — while he has three children he rarely sees. So it is no surprise he is the MAGA candidate endorsed by Trump.
Again, Walker is overqualified to run on the GOP line. He checks so many boxes...
Want to help Walker celebrate Father’s Day? Here’s two suggestions:
1) Make a donation to Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock.
Seriously. Keep Warnock in the Senate and keep Walker back home in Georgia. It would save everyone a lot of grief — including Walker — if he had more time to spend with his family. Or families… Lots more time…
2) Make a donation to Planned Parenthood in Herschel Walker’s name.
Given that the GOP no longer believes a woman should be allowed to terminate a pregnancy because of rape, incest, or spousal abuse, health, birth defects, or because the right of celebrities and deadbeat dads to walk away should not be infringed, women can use all the help they can get to avoid mandatory Mother’s Day.
It would be easy to be cruel, and the Good Lord knows how low they go when the shoe is on the other foot, but who says we can’t go high while enjoying a bit of schadenfreude?
Happy Fathers Day everyone!
