I am a progressive Democrat running to represent Virginia’s 8th Congressional District. Another important part of my identity is being a daughter. In honor of Father’s Day, I’d like to tell you about my father. He was born to Punjabi Sikh refugees in Thailand. He later came to America in hopes of a better life — but every day was a struggle, a fight. Without a college degree, he worked minimum wage jobs to try to provide for our family. I am forever grateful for the sacrifices he made to help give me the life I have today.
I was born and raised in VA-8, so I know that the story of my father, which is a part of my story, is one of thousands for people in our community. This is why I say I am the daughter of the district. This district raised me and so many others in similar circumstances. Now, I am running to represent them in Congress.
Leadership should reflect the composition and lived experiences of people in our districts. Help elect the FIRST Latina, Asian American, and woman to ever go to Congress for VA-8! Vote for me, Victoria Virasingh, on Election Day, Tuesday, 6/21. To follow and support my campaign, visit victoriaforcongress.com.
