I came out as gay in the mid 80s, and then after gaining more security with myself as Bisexual in the later 80s.
It was in the time of Reagan and heavy into HIV/AIDS when I came out. I participated in pride marches and was out, appearing in a two-part series of the experiences of a gay male (me) and a lesbian coming out.
I knew several transgender men and women and we all battled together for our rights and against people like Barney Frank.
As time passed though I no longer was active in the gay community and like many things it grew and changed. I understand the terms/meaning of Gay, Bi, CIS, non- CIS and transgender. But the rest of our group I don’t understand. I mean no offense by my ignorance and ask so I can learn and grow.
What is the difference between Bi and Questioning? What is meant when someone calls themselves they or them? I feel as if everything passed me by.
