Okay folks, more updates. This is clearly a fluid situation at present here in Texas.
Now Burrows, the head of the tx Lege House committee investigation has scheduled Sunday as the day he will first show the CISD school hallway video to families in Uvalde, then his committee will release the video and presumably an accompanying “report” of indeterminate depth and transparency of primary materials. We do know they conducted a great many interviews in executive session, mostly in Uvalde. (my guess is they will blame low level “foot soldiers,” patrol officers and demand more money and training for cops. Predictable.)
Last night this video was to be released TODAY. I worry there is still a big fight going on backstage. I worry the audio will be redacted. I KNOW they don’t want the body cam recordings shown, even (and in some cases) especially BEFORE the room filled with decapitated children is shown. We will never see that. But the cop-cowardice is just as a damning as the results of the killer, to my eyes. This is proof that no amount of good guys with guns will ever make our children or us, safe in the USA.
STILL.
This is NOT what Greg Abbott, the Uvalde Police, the sheriff, the Uvalde CISD police, (Arredondo) the DPS and the local District Attorney planned, and they are not happy about this. This is movement for our side towards learning enough of the truth for the public to take notice.
It still is LIMITED HANGOUT unless and until the body cam recordings, 911 calls (political dynamite, children pleading for help for underneath desks and tables, awaiting death) and dispatch transcripts PLUS now all the investigators interview are made public in an OPEN RECORDS STATE.
But the pressure is clearly on and what’s been tried thus far by Abbott and the GOP to sweep this travesty of justice under a rug has been utterly rejected by the incredible families and the public at large as the blatant lies and spin that it is. We are inching closer to the truth. We may never know what really happened in Robb elementary on a detailed level but one-tenth of the truth should be enough to bury Gregg Abbott’s political career forever, were there such a thing as justice and transparency.
