So big biz has decided to move to “subscription based “ software, a system where people don't buy or own software, they pay a monthly fee for it, forever.
Yeah, no.
I'm not going to “move to' (be forced to accept) this type of “service” (similar to the ‘service’ bulls give cows at stud farms .)
And I'd like to encourace people to just say no to it along with me.
The (false) premise of the reaganesque “free market” was that buisnesses would be forced to compete to provide better services and prices to consumers.
The truth always was a few big players dominated the market and were free to demand consumers pay what wanted for what they chose to make aavailable on their terms.
Now they want to make us pay a constant fee for programs we may rarely use.
The corporate apologist will snivel “But you already pay monthly fee for so much as is, what's a little more? Just pay it like a good little capitalist!”
ITFP yes we do pay constant fees for a lot, and maybe we don't want to add to it.
Secondly in capitalism, people are supposed to be able to own property. Now a system where a few wealthy, unelected elite own everything and control the people's access to it, why, that sounds a bit like communism, don't you think?
American consumers need to stand up, stand together and refuse to accept this now.
