Welcome to what is the 1129th original profile here at “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day”, where we’ll be profiling Herschel Walker, the 1982 Heismann Award winning running back from the University of Georgia who in spite of having lived in Texas for many, many years and not the state he played football in… is somehow the GOP Primary winner as their 2022 candidate for U.S. Senate in Georgia, looking to knock off Civil Rights advocate and Democratic Sen. Rafael Warnock.
Buckle in, this is gonna be an absolute s***show to talk about.
Alright, let’s start at the beginning with his college football career at the University of Georgia. Walker was, frankly, a man among boys. He was the absolute peak of athleticism in his collegiate career, and was just faster and stronger than 99.99% of the people he played against. This concludes the nice things we will say about him.
When his career with the Georgia Bulldogs was over, though, Herschel Walker was faced with a dilemma that only happened for a small window of time in the 1980s… would he play a fourth year in college, and then enter the NFL Draft and play with the storied, decades old stalwart football league, or would he instead, leave school a year early to take a huge payday to enter the USFL?
He took the money, and spent three years with the New Jersey Generals, who were owned at the time by… Donald F***ing Trump. His time playing on Trump’s team ended primarily because with Donald Trump pressuring the other USFL owners into financial suicide pacts because he’s such a “genius businessman” that the league went bankrupt.
That put Walker back on the NFL’s radar, where he played a few seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, got traded to the Minnesota Vikings for enough draft capital to build Dallas’ 1990s juggernaut teams. He spent three years on the Vikings, went to the Philadephia Eagles for three years as a free agent, played a lone year with the New York Giants, and then went back to Dallas for one more year in 1996 before retiring from football in 1997. He was pulled out of mothballs by Donald Trump to appear as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice in 2009, and went 2-0 as an MMA fighter in 2010-2011, still trying to find some relevance outside of athletics. As it is, there are questions as to his involvement with his business dealings with chicken processing plants, because it doesn’t seem like he does more than lend his name to an existing company, but is willing to apply for Covid-19 stimulus even though he only has a handful of employees.
Now, while Walker has been living outside the state of Georgia for some time, he’s still a hero down there, and starting in 2014, multiple Republican candidates would drag him out on stage to give “endorsements” even though he isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer… he’s still one of the state’s FOOTBAW HEROES and that’s enough to win over Republican voters and get them excited about candidates. In 2014, former Congressman Jack Kingston tried to win the U.S. Senate nomination with Walker, in 2016 and 2020, Donald Trump brought his own former player out at rallies, in 2018, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp helped bolster his gubernatorial dreams using Walker’s athletic legacy, and in 2020, he was campaigning on behalf of former Sen. Kelly Loeffler.
Donald Trump really was trying to elevate Herschel Walker for some time, including appointing him to his Presidential Fitness Council in 2018, but Walker was removed from it in 2022. The reason? You can’t be a candidate for office while serving on the council… but hey, both Walker and Mehmet Oz threw tantrums when shown the door by the Biden administration (who were reminding them it wouldn’t be legal for them to continue working on the council, if they were working at all) after announcing Senatorial bids.
Trump, of course, was seething at many Georgia Republicans after losing the state in the 2020 election, so he decided to throw them all a curveball by picking his own candidate to insert into the 2022 U.S. Senate race… HERSCHEL WALKER. There are a lot of problems with that. The first, of course, being that Herschel Walker hasn’t lived in Georgia for some time, and filed to run while listing his current address as in Texas.
The second being that Herschel Walker has frequently spoken about his struggles with Dissasociative Identiy Disorder (formerly known as multiple personality disorder), meaning, that on a day to day basis if elected, he can show up as a different person to the Senate and be an entirely new personality that doesn’t vote as he’s promised his constituents.
There is also the matter of Walker being accused by his ex-wife, who divorced him in 2001, of repeatedly abusing her, including choking her, pulling knives on her or putting a gun to her head and telling her he would “blow your brains out”. (Again, we will note the pattern of people who Donald Trump endorses who face known allegations of violence towards women, which is becoming the GOP brand.) There are other witnesses who came forward to note Walker would repeatedly talk about murdering his wife, so he hardly was being subtle about his violent tendencies.
As a Trump-endorsed candidate, of course, Herschel Walker had to yell ridiculous conspiracy theories about election fraud in 2020 to whomever would listen, including claiming Joe Biden got 30 million fewer votes then were reported, or insisting that the Jan. 6th attacks were not carried out by Trump supporters. But while he’s at it, he’s fine to throw in Covid-19 misinformation all on his own.
Now, while campaigning for Senate, Herschel Walker has shown himself to have quite a few problems with the truth…
In December of 2021, he started boasting about how he supposedly “graduated in the top 1% of his class at the University of Georgia”, but fact checkers noted… HE LEFT COLLEGE A YEAR EARLY AND NEVER GRADUATED. Like, that’s a very established fact in his biography. What seemed very strange, and that perhaps some long term damage may have been done to Walker during several helmet-to-helmet collisions during his playing days… is how he frequently has claimed to have been a member of American law enforcement in public speeches, including several Georgia law enforcement agencies and even a stint “working with the FBI”. Fact-checkers, of course, have had every agency confirm they have no idea what the hell Walker is even talking about. But he assures us, that he was working for the feds when he chased down a man and pulled a gun on him years ago, but only stopped short of killing him because of the man’s inspirational bumper sticker.
Unsettled yet?
The biggest hypocrisy, though, was probably that Walker frequently criticized other African Americans for leaving their youth “fatherless”, an angle that even his own son Christian was playing while campaigning for dad… until of course we found out that Herschel Walker had three different illegitimate children he never raised. As days went on, more illegitimate children kept popping up and… yeah. At this point, there was word that even his own campaign staffers never believe a word he says because he’s full of s***.
He’s been on the campaign trail almost a year, and even with all the things we’ve listed so far… most of those aren’t actually THE ISSUES that a politician should be well-versed in. Is Herschel Walker in over his head? Well, here he is discussing environmental policy, and clean air initiatives, that seems to show a substantial lack of understanding.
“Since we don’t control the air, our good air decided to float over to China’s bad air, so when China gets our good air, their bad air got to move. So it moves over to our good air space. Then, now, we got to clean that back up.”
The fact that Walker is this clueless on any number of issues may be why he skipped out on all the GOP debates before the Senate primary, and why he’s refusing to debate with Sen. Warnock unless very specific conditions are met, like he’s told what every one of the topics will be ahead of time. For weeks, the Walker campaign have tried to pretend that it’s Warnock who is refusing to debate HIM, while Warnock has been channeling Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and saying, “BRING IT.”
Somehow, the GOP’s strategy of “FOOTBAW HERO” is a better one than you’d think, because with all of these flaws in Herschel Walker as a candidate, he’s only polling a few points behind a modern civil rights figure like Rafael Warnock. Should he be elected *shudder* there will now be two useful football idiots in the Senate, with Tommy Tuberville competing with Walker for the dumbest one.
Georgia? We don’t care how good he was at moving the pile in the 80s… DO NOT send this dunce to the capitol. Especially when the alternative is an inspiring reverend. Just… come on, man.
