I was reading the blogs this morning and would’ve spit my coffee (had I been drinking any) when I read this piece in Salon. I don’t know what Amanda Marcotte is drinking but, she needs to put it down.
Republican voters will never vote for Liz Cheney. I think she knows this. I think she remembers what a debacle Sarah Palin was for her party in 2008. Was I impressed by Cong. Cheney’s concession speech? Yes, but, not because I think she was trying to rally her constituents into embracing big D Democracy and rejecting the fascist party the GOP has become. She was speaking to history but she was also speaking to anyone swayed by polls and the mainstream media and family and friends, into thinking President Biden is too old, too centrist, too this, too that.
Worse case scenario? She loses the Republican primary and decides to run as an Independent. If President Biden can’t run or decides to step down, MVP Harris will run for the nomination. Full disclosure: I was rooting for Kamala Harris in 2020 before she dropped out.
The oil (and energy) companies must hate the idea of a Biden administration or a prospective Harris administration forming policy. They will hate the idea of a Democratic House/Senate passing green energy initiatives. We already have to fight off Sens Manchin and Sinema to get anything passed. Does anyone really think they’re going to sit out Democrat’s primaries in the future if we retain our majority this year?
