On this date in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, as well as 2021, that “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day” published profiles of the U.S. House Representative from Georgia’s 10th District, Jody Hice, who prior to his election to office in 2014, we warned that Pastor Hice had already made several controversial statements, such as arguing against the existence of a separation of church and state, referring to homosexuality as bestiality, and denying acknowledging that Islam was an actual religion, so therefore, in his mind, the First Amendment of the Constitution does not apply to Muslims.
While our update on Hice in 2015 was mostly a discussion of his abysmal voting record, we did pause to look at Hice’s further thoughts on what he considers the “so-called separation of church and state”, calling it a “false belief“, and that secular government causes increases in violence, gangs, and teen pregnancy. Hice, for a time, talked less, with the biggest focus of his power of a legislator being that he considers renaming parks after Nancy Reagan to be a higher priority to doing anything else to help the country, save for perhaps sponsoring Personhood legislation like the “Sanctity of Life Act”.
Since Donald Trump was inaugurated, Jody Hice was doing his best to provide cover for him regarding during the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, so much so that in a Fox News appearance on May 22nd, 2018, Hice called for “an investigation into the investigators” because he’s just so upset that Robert Mueller and his team keep finding out all the illegal things Trump and his campaign officials were doing to try to steal away the White House.
Hice was re-elected in 2020 with 63% of the vote, enjoying the +15 Republican lean that his district has. We will now review the past few years of Hice’s voting record to establish how alarmingly conservative he is:
- January 22nd, 2019: Hice votes against HR 676, which would prevent Donald Trump from doing the unthinkable and walking away from our allies in NATO to appease the Russians.
- December 3rd, 2019: Rep. Hice is one of 71 Republicans who votes against a resolution to disallow Russia from re-entering the G7 and makes it the G8 until it leaves Ukraine.
- April 23rd, 2020: Jody Hice is one of 4 Republicans who vote against the Coronavirus stimulus bill in the House.
- May 15th, 2020: Hice votes against the HEROES Act, to further support the healthcare industry and citizens affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
- August 24th, 2020: Hice gets on Twitter and posts conspiracy theories about voter fraud, claiming Democrats support mail-in balloting because “that’s how you steal an election”.
- January 6th, 2021: Hours before domestic terrorists loyal to Donald Trump storm the capitol and attempt a violent coup upon the legislative branch of the government and Vice-President Mike Pence, Hice posts on his Instagram account a message saying, “This is our 1776 moment.”
- January 7th, 2021: Jody Hice votes for the objection to the electoral college’s votes in the 2020 election, a failure to send any sort of message that he wasn’t intimidated or sympathetic to those who attacked the Capitol to attempt a violent coup.
- January 13th, 2021: Rep. Hice votes against the second impeachment of Donald Trump.
- March 10th, 2021: Hice votes against the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, because he feels people deserve to die in poverty during a pandemic.
- May 19th, 2021: Jody Hice votes against HR 3233, the creation of a commission to investigate the Capitol Attack.
- July 22nd, 2021: Rep. Hice is one of 16 Republicans who vote against HR 3895, the Allies Act, which was passed without his support to raise the amount of visas offered and to expedite their issue to Afghan translators and their families to honor our promise to protect them against the Taliban after U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, thus feeling we should go back on our word and leave them to die.
- November 5th, 2021: Jody Hice votes against HR 3684, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
- February 8th, 2022: Hice co-sponsors the “Secure Our Borders First Act”, an attempt to block military aid to our ally, Ukraine, in their conflict with Russia, until Donald Trump’s useless f***ing wall on the U.S./Mexico border is completed.
- May 18th, 2022: Jody Hice is one of 192 Republicans who vote against HR 7790, to create supplemental funding for infant formula (while claiming to be pro- life).
- May 18th, 2022: Rep. Hice votes against HR 350, the Domestic Violence Prevention Act, because these days, a plank of the Republican Party is ostensibly domestic terror.
- July 15th, 2022: Jody Hice votes against House Amendment 262, which would require the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Secretary of Defense to publish a report on the infiltration of American law enforcment by Neo-Nazis and white supremacists, offer measures to be taken to remove them from their ranks, and prevent further infiltration by others.
- July 21st, 2022: Hice is one of 195 Republicans who vote against the Right to Contraception Act, which codified the right of Americans to have access to birth control.
Jody Hice might have annoyed members of the Republican Party establishment, as he was booted from the House Armed Services Committee in 2019 for supporting Jim Jordan and not Kevin McCarthy for their House leadership. However, they never ran a credible challenger against him, and he seems to have taken the hint that he’s going nowhere in Congress, instead, he’s looking to invest his focus in white supremacy through voter suppression, getting so angry about mail-in-voting factoring in to flip Georgia blue in 2020, he chose to run against Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in 2022. And we’re thrilled to report that in that effort, Jody Hice came up short, and thus will mercifully no longer be in office come January of 2023.
We would like to wish him a hearty “GOOD RIDDANCE” salute at this time, and like so many other Republican seditionists that were touting Trump’s “Big Lie” if not outright offering comfort and aid to those who attacked the Capitol on January 6th… we can only hope he gets slapped around by the long arm of the law before all’s said and done as well. As it is, he’s currently fighting subpoenas to appear in court about it, but damned if we don’t love some consequences for ***holes.
