The Colorado State Open Thread is here for your edification, education and enjoyment. It’s even sometimes a little entertaining. But mostly, it’s for you. Please let me know if you’d like to write one of these — since I’m quite frankly running out of ideas. I mean, there are only so many beautiful pictures, posts on Boobert and the upcoming election and wonderful things to do in our state — it gets a little over whelming after a couple of years.
This week was to be the week where I would have had visitors. No such luck, other than workmen. Oh, and yet more kittens. OK — here are the new needy ones — might as well put the kittens towards the top. These are our latest foster babies.
Mrs. Colotim couldn’t resist this pair, though she’s usually on the lookout for “bottle babies” that she has to feed with an eyedropper. This pair had conjunctivitis (aka “pink eye”) so every time we touch them or go into their room we need to wash with soap and water very completely — otherwise we could end up with it or the other four-leggers in our house could. Fortunately, for some reason I’m in the habit of complete hand-washing so it pretty much comes naturally now.
The regular pootie diaries won’t let me post photos of creepy crawlies, but Charlotte was so pretty and so much like her namesake, I’m going to post her picture here anyway.
Here I am cooking brats and hot dogs for the Rotary Club’s festival called “Autumn Gold” where they have beer, bands and brats, with several bands playing on the stage for this last weekend in Bond Park (one of the places in downtown where the elk can come and get a free meal and maybe toss a tourist or two).
There was also a car show, which had some very nice cars on display. Here’s a sampling:
While I like the variety of styling of the old cars, if I’m going to drive one I want one with all the safety features and bells and whistles, like seat belts, AC, back-up cameras, airbags, radio and cupholders.
Finally, for those of you who like the night, here are a couple to show off the beauty of the night in a dark sky location up by Rocky Mountain National Park.
Well, so much for pictures. Elk Fest will be a street fair to celebrate one of our favorite animals and that will be next weekend. The weekend after that will be the “Surprise Sale” which is an end-of-season store clearout sale in preparation for the winter season. Following that I will be out of town — my dog groomer has been given tickets by the head basketball coach of my alma mater so I’m going to go see a real football game — unlike the type we have here in Colorado. Following that, I think we’re going to be having the Birdwatching group from our Newcomers organization come over to our house to see a different set of birds than what we see down closer to town where there are open fields and open water. Sometime after that, I guess we’ll have an election? Sooo, lots of pictures coming up, unless someone wants to write one of these diaries themselves. Since it’s an Open Thread, it allows for whatever you want to write about.
Until then, please comment below — the floor is yours.
