I am in awe!
not only was I was quoted by the amazing
Julissa Arce on her book "You Sound Like a White Girl"
but also by
The Moth for their book "How To Tell a Story".
When I was a kid growing up in Guatemala, I used to stutter, I didn't have a voice.
Then as a teenager my family emigrated undocumented to Chicago and I became a bilingual stutter, plus I didn't know the language and couldn't vote, I truly didn't have a voice.
Fast forward a couple of decades, I overcame my stuttering, I learned to speak English with a sexy Latinx accent, and I became a storyteller and an American citizen. I found my voice.
But I never imagine that my writing would be quoted by people and organizations that I admire.
I feel honored and grateful for this blessing.
Sinceramente
