I have been alive for 22 different American presidents and vice presidents. Is it a coincidence that of all 22, though I have honestly loved several of the men who held these offices, I have only felt that one truly spoke for me? Is it a coincidence that the one, the only one who did, is a woman, like me?
Is it a coincidence that of all the 22, there was only one other that had dark skin? Is it a coincidence that from her entry onto the presidential platform she has been erased, left out, and held to a different standard than her predecessors?
In the last few months there have been a rash of ridiculous articles about bullshit issues with this fantastic woman from folks who I believe are very unhappy about the solidarity in the Democratic Party. With the GQP committing circular suicide on a daily basis, why wouldn’t there be a push for this?
Even a questionable diary here on DK with a clickbait title and a very nasty photo of her...this is what is passing for support for the most visible Vice President in our history?
I wanted to push back, but found that Roland Martin has already done a much better job than I ever could. Have a listen, if you have bothered to read any of the offending articles, I think you owe her that much.
The Democratic Party itself? The White House? I think they have made themselves pretty clear.
Harris allies and key Democrats rally around vice president amid party handwringing
WashingtonCNN —
Allies of Vice President Kamala Harris and other prominent Democrats are sending a clear message to their fellow party members who speculate that she should be replaced as President Joe Biden’s running mate in 2024: It’s time to stop it.
…
The feeling is shared across most of the Democratic spectrum, who hope the party turns their sights on former President Donald Trump or whomever the Republican presidential nominee will be, instead of handwringing about themselves.
A source close to the Biden campaign told CNN: “People need to get on board and recognize every time they undermine the vice president, they undermine the campaign. We cannot afford to lose to these Republicans. So, get on board.”
