What’s the plan, then?
If it’s to be Joe Biden (and we do like him!), WHAT’s THE NEW PLAN that’s going to vault him up and over the unthinkable Trump alternative?
Because the present profile of the past three years isn’t working very well. ( Trump looks 50-50 against Biden, and has only gained with the GOP — despite January 6 and the BIG LIE, a clear dictatorial agenda, the well-founded indictments and his getting more unhinged.)
What do ya mean, kkwriter? Look man, here it is in black and white:
— Tell folks about his Great Legislation. The Infrastructure that Trump wouldn’t do, the COVID relief, the CHIP -tech stimulus, Climate legislation and the Inflation Reduction Act?
— What about Joe’s laudable support of causes like the Auto Workers Strike (and labor rights in general, and stepping up for Ukraine against Russian aggression, and daring to walk the line between defending Israel’s right to defense against Hamas terror while brokering international aid and recognition for Palestinians…
— And then there’s his championing minority and women’s rights like his humane outreach and allowing work for migrants (but also keeping a border), upholding the right to abortion, assistance with student loans, and recognition of sexual freedoms and lifestyles.
Indeed, Joe Biden has a great legislative and humanitarian resume. He’s sane, decent and experienced. We, on the intellectual and thinking left, know that hands down.
BUT IT CLEARLY IS NOT TRANSLATING SUFFICIENTLY TO THE ‘middle swing’ voters who are breaking for Trump in too many numbers. The polls shouldn’t even be close, but they are. After every great Biden accomplishment above, the approvals for Joe hardly budge or even slide a bit down. Two thirds of his own Democrats in the street verbalize that they’d like another candidate.
While Trump, getting ever demonic, is either holding or picking up steam. On rumor and lies alone. What????
I know, I know. Alot can happen in the year ahead and when people actually consider pulling the lever we HOPE they will shrug off the madman and go for the decent guy.
— Right, Mac. Whatever the reason for Joe’s present numbers our best move is to pull together now, stop complaining about this great president, show unity and it’s up to us to be the kind of enthusiasm that will put Joe over the top. It’s up to us!!!
OK, PAUSE BUTTON, PLEASE. You are at least half right. And know that I am a campaign worker back to the 80s, canvassing and calling for most mid and four year elections. I had no question about re-running Clinton and Obama, or even Al Gore (sitting VP) after Clinton. And I also know that there are times during campaigns when the candidate is on their own and alone in front of America.
I hate to say this: but OPTICS and MESSAGING seem to be forefront these days. Along with energy and visual profile, etc… In other words: the SHALLOW stuff. Trump is 100% in your face, full of tireless energy, spewing words a mile a minute and looking 1000% confident — and crazily — too many people are still mesmerized and shrugging off the pile of evil and disruption in his wake. (My psychologist wife likens it to an abused relationship where the abused leaves then crawls back...)
Trump sells his garbage like he’s selling pure gold. Biden, by comparison, often appears almost apologetic, “elderly”, stumbling in speech and hesitant in selling the real gold.
IF JOE CAN”T GET THE SELLING and OPTICS right, then WHAT’S GOING TO BE DIFFERENT GOING FORWARD???? If the media is unfair to him, how to we overcome that? PERCEPTION IS ALL, so if Joe can’t win the PERCEPTION game, then what?
Let’s please acknowledge: there are no political experts with crystal balls anymore. (certainly not me) And many of the old political adages and patterns no longer apply, either. We are in the UPSIDE DOWN these days (ref to Stranger Things...)

And so: what about this latecomer Dean Phillips?
No, he’s not third party. If he loses the primaries against Joe, he will support Joe.
Before we write him off, I ask that we at least give a look at this intro video. Hear from him directly
as he’s interviewed by centrist newsman Isaac Saul of Tangle.
Then, who knows?
(If Joe’s image is so fragile that a primary challenge can “hurt” him at this point, then what will he face after the primaries? )
Peace.
