I get my news from various sources—when I can stomach it, I read whatever mainstream media has to offer that isn’t hidden behind a paywall, namely Washington Post, New York Times, or The Hill (sometimes you can find a few that offer free peeks to their articles).
Still, being something of a raging liberal, I tend to ferret out online democratic and progressive news forums and shows for balance.
This is how I learned that the MSM ain’t hittin’ on all cylinders.
Since many of them are run by conservatives, even the Wall Street Journal, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and TV news like CNN, there appears to be a rising tendency to skewer current political good news to look bad.
For instance, as per Veep Kamala Harris on Xitter:
The Biden-Harris Administration
-
Capped the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors.
-
Approved $127 billion in student loan forgiveness.
-
Passed the first meaningful gun safety legislation in nearly 30 years
Not to mention the best economy Americans have seen in two years! Yet poll after poll supposedly indicates nationwide dissatisfaction with the incumbent.
What gives?
In the past, Republicans have tried to destroy the economy whenever a sitting Democratic president was in office. They realize that average US voters, not understanding how essential economics work, often blame the incumbent for such troubles. Nowadays, this age-old Republican attack is two-pronged—shut down the government and make it dysfunctional while spinning Democratic wins negatively.

The doom and gloom scenarios cause distress and dampen political enthusiasm, especially for advocates, who may refuse to engage civically or even vote.
Journalists understand the power of the pen in this regard as well as politicos.
I am gonna post a few RAW STORY titles with links to a few recent stories below as cases in point:
And these three related titles…
I want to state that I regard RAW STORY as a kind of midlin’ news source—they are a bit too clickbaity and sensationalistic for my tastes. On top of that, their most recent, cynical headlines mirror what you will find with just a cursory search for political news.
The first two titles grabbed my attention as soon as I hit the RAW STORY home page, as I was struck by how contradictory they were: Trump was somehow gaining momentum, but the GOP House majority was in jeopardy? Usually, when a Republican is faring well in their campaign, GOP prospects rise proportionately.
Granted, Trump has spent the majority of his time on the stump railing against establishment Rinos, but voting for a Republican prez and leaving him impotent with a largely Democratic House and Senate doesn’t seem to make any sense.
Regarding Trump’s newfound popularity (spit-take-worthy), the perspective is based on—you guessed it. Polling!
New polling finds the current president trailing the former president in key battleground states, and voters are being seen not to be receptive to Biden's messaging on the economy or the threat Trump poses to democracy and reproductive rights, reported The Bulwark columnist A.B. Stoddard.
"So who are the voters being newly persuaded by Trump?" Stoddard wrote. "These potential new swing voters are not MAGA, they aren’t pumped for the release of the J6 tapes, and they don’t give a passing thought to the outrages of Hunter Biden.
"They are nonwhite, young, and independent, and they trust Trump more on the economy, foreign policy, and immigration."
These “pundits” and “columnists” are using the same crap-o-la polling that created shock and awe after conservative initiatives like Issue 1 were trounced in states like Ohio!
Dude, young people have often been overwhelmingly progressive-minded as a voting bloc. So much so the running cultural joke is by the time they grow middle-aged, they’ve become more conservative due to having to pay a mortgage.
Yet we are supposed to believe swatches of women, young people, and minorities, whose vote conservatives tried to suppress—who loathe Trump with all the fiber of our being for what he did to the Central Park Five and Roe v. Wade—dun forgot about their rights and sleights and are now hankering for a Trump presidency?
…does not pass the smell test.
Likewise with the Hunter Biden titles.
Two seem to indicate Republicans pushed for a public hearing on the Biden Crime Family nonsense, while another states Hunter Biden is demanding a public hearing.
Well—which one is it?
I invite you guys to read the articles and remove the sensationalism to get at the meat of the story.
On a casual glance at modern “news sources” and sites, one thing is becoming abundantly clear—we can scarcely rely on anything other than our reason and our vote in this upcoming election.
So vote.
Vote!
P.S. — Go, Hunter Biden!
In a new letter to the committee, Hunter Biden's attorney is calling his bluff — and demanding it be a public hearing instead.
Letter from Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell:
"Mr. Chairman, we take you up on your offer," wrote Abbe Lowell. "Accordingly, our client will get right to it by agreeing to answer any pertinent and relevant question you or your colleagues might have but — rather than subscribing to your cloaked, one-sided process — he will appear at a public Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing ... A public proceeding would prevent selective leaks, manipulated transcripts, doctored exhibits, or one-sided press statements."
"Your empty investigation has gone on too long wasting many better used resources. It should come to an end," Lowell continued. "From all the individuals you have requested depositions or interviews, all you will learn is that your accusations are baseless. However, the American people should see that for themselves."
Go get em’ sparky!
