Dear Daily Kos Community,
Thank you so much for being a part of my life and for keeping me informed and updated about important news and issues all around the world. I’m also happy to report that Mayor Lauren McLean won her reelection for Boise mayor last night. This is a major bright spot for an otherwise very red state/region. Come and visit Boise, Idaho someday if you can (nicknamed “the City of Trees”) — it has a lot going for it and is definitely worth visiting. It’s got lots of nearby mountains and trails and parks. It is a smaller-medium sized city, but still has many fun things to do and see just like the bigger cities.
I also have another request: wherever you may currently stand on the Israel-Palestine-Hamas conflict, or President Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu, I beg and plead with you with everything that is in me — don’t let Donald Trump manage to get reelected in 2024 under any circumstances. That would help nobody. I think it is possible to support both Israel and Palestine. It is Hamas that is the true enemy.
I will never hesitate to call out Antisemitism and Islamophobia wherever and whenever I see it. We all deserve to be loved and a place to call home. I see this as basic human rights. Electing Trump or any current Republican would be so destructive, not only for the United States, the west, and Israel, but for Ukraine, too. Too much is at stake here. I’d rather live!
However bad things may seem now, they could be much worse with the wrong people in charge. We’ve already had 4 years of Trump — and it didn’t go well. It won’t be any different a second time. It will be much, much worse.
Putin must not succeed!
Freedom and Democracy will win! We must be on the right side of history and do everything in our power to make that a reality. Is Joe Biden perfect? No. But he is our best bet for right now. Please, let us keep him and Vice President Harris around for another 4-year term.
Don’t ask “what would I have done if I had been alive during World War 2?” You are alive right now, and what you are doing now, is what you would have done.” Amy Siskind always reminds me of this.
That’s all I have to say for now.
I hope you all have a great week. Take good care of yourselfs and each other — you all deserve it. Practice self-care in these difficult times. I believe we can all do this if we all support each other. I firmly believe that.
Love ❤️,
BLAYMAN
