It has been a while since I've posted on Daily Kos. I had been living with my family in Kansas for the past 20 years. My family is extremely conservative and I made the mistake that they still cared about me because I cared about them. They think empathy and feelings are a liberal conspiracy.
I have also had covid at least 5 times. I worked at a call center and have had COVID every 2 months almost on schedule. The first couple of times I had COVID, a bulging disc injury from high school football would worsen significantly and my sciatica would get so bad that I couldn't even sit down. Yet they still refused to give me a steroid shot until I got COVID the 3rd confirmed time. They also refused to give me a standing desk
So I got the shot in October and it resolved all of the sciatica pain. I went back to work and immediately got COVID again with a bacterial infection and bronchitis. At this point, I just couldn't take the pain, illness and started yelling about how awful my situation is. Yelled that the COVID was killing me and fought with my family. My brother wanted to fight and I had 0 f*s left to give because I was so sick and ill. He beat me up and tried to destabilize my spine.
They called the police and put a no contact order on me. Put me in jail, took my stuff and refused to tell friends and family so that no one would pick me up. They left me severely injured in shorts to freeze to death in front of the Johnson County Jail.
Unfortunately for them, I'm a Kirk and I will survive. I called an ambulance that took me to the hospital, and was able to call extended family that were shocked by the events. I was able to get my $, cell phone and had saved enough to fly back to Minnesota. I'm currently surviving in Minnesota as I am writing this.
I would like to express my gratitude for the hope, knowledge and empathy that I've enjoyed on Daily Kos for the past 15 years. I want to be able to write more now that I'm free from the manipulation and hating myself.
