Anti-Trump, pro-democratic conservative are goin g to play an important role in helping us beat MAGA/Trump and preserve the US democracy. In fact, imo, the recent paralells in the US to old European fascism—and the amount of political support it gets—suggest to me that WE NEED the scripts being created by Repulican Never Trumpers to beat down Republican Strength, regain the House, perhaps even retaining the Senate.
Over on Good News Roundup, I have frequently discussed the idea of a “Dem Undercount” in the polls, including poorly constructed polls, and the fact that many progressive issues (such as supporting the ACA and fighting Racism) do not show up well in early polling. Cheney’s opportunity to help us beat Trump is part of that concept:

'Sleepwalking into dictatorship': Liz Cheney says 'co-opted' GOP would help Trump 'end the republic'
One of the featured guests on tomorrow's CBS Sunday Morning is former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming), whose forthcoming book not only excoriates former President Donald Trump, but her fellow Republicans as well.
During the interview, CBS' John Dickerson asked Cheney if she stood by her claim that Trump winning a second term in the White House would signal "the end of the republic." Cheney nodded, and said that the once-reliable institutions meant to curb executive overreach would no longer apply if Trump was voted back into the presidency.
"[Trump has] told us what he will do. It's very easy to see the steps that he will take," Cheney said. "People who say, 'well, if he's elected, it's not that dangerous because we have all of these checks and balances,' don't fully understand the extent to which the Republicans in Congress today have been co-opted."
"One of the things that we see happening today is a sort of sleepwalking into dictatorship in the United States," she added.
The former Wyoming congresswoman isn't alone in her assessment of how Trump might govern in a second term. A recent essay published by Washington Post contributing editor Robert Kagan warned that America was on a "path to dictatorship" given the ex-president's domination of the Republican presidential primary and what he characterized as the justice system's "impotent" response to Trump's actions.

A Trump dictatorship is increasingly inevitable. We should stop pretending.
Robert Kagan, a Post Opinions contributing editor, is the author of “Rebellion: How Antiliberalism Is Tearing America Apart — Again,” which will be published by Knopf in May.
Let’s stop the wishful thinking and face the stark reality: There is a clear path to dictatorship in the United States, and it is getting shorter every day. In 13 weeks, Donald Trump will have locked up the Republican nomination. In the RealClearPolitics poll average (for the period from Nov. 9 to 20), Trump leads his nearest competitor by 47 points and leads the rest of the field combined by 27 points. The idea that he is unelectable in the general election is nonsense — he is tied or ahead of President Biden in all the latest polls — stripping other Republican challengers of their own stated reasons for existence. The fact that many Americans might prefer other candidates, much ballyhooed by such political sages as Karl Rove, will soon become irrelevant when millions of Republican voters turn out to choose the person whom no one allegedly wants.
For many months now, we have been living in a world of self-delusion, rich with imagined possibilities. Maybe it will be Ron DeSantis, or maybe Nikki Haley. Maybe the myriad indictments of Trump will doom him with Republican suburbanites. Such hopeful speculation has allowed us to drift along passively, conducting business as usual, taking no dramatic action to change course, in the hope and expectation that something will happen.
In my opinion and hope, I still believe that LOUD signals from smart conservatives, such as Cheney, Kagan, and The Lincoln Project, and from neoconservatives such as Kagan, are essention to making sure that enough Never Trumpers and Independents join the fight on our side. Without that help, Kagan may well be right.
