Yes, White people, allies and friends of White people and other people of every color, and all people who will likely become part of a marginalized group sooner or later — this constitutes a very real threat to your children and their future.
No more Black History for MO students!
All-white school board revokes anti-racism resolution.
Last week, on Dec. 21, 2023, in St. Charles County, Missouri, an all white conservative-led Missouri school board voted to drop elective courses on Black history and literature. This drastic move comes less than six months after the same all white board rescinded an anti-discrimination policy that the district had adopted in 2020 in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.
The seven-member board voted on whether to keep Black History and Black Literature electives in the three high schools in the district. The classes have been popular at the schools in the predominantly white suburb of St. Louis..
After hearing from multiple parents for more than two hours Thursday, the Francis Howell School Board voted 5-2 to remove the electives.
The anti-discrimination policy that the school board had removed from all schools in the district said this: Keep in mind this has been
STRUCK DOWN:
The resolution passed in August 2020 “pledges to our learning community that we will speak firmly against any racism, discrimination, and senseless violence against people regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, immigration status, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability.
“We will promote racial healing, especially for our Black and brown students and families,” the resolution states. “We will no longer be silent.”

I guess I could go on and on trying to explain the danger of this to white folk. No doubt Black and Brown folk already know. It only took us a few hundred years to get those “Studies” included in the curriculums of American schools in the first place. What’s the harm in kids believing everyone who ever mattered was white?

The Francis Howell district is among Missouri’s largest, with 17,000 students, about 87% of whom are white. The vote, which came during an often contentious meeting Thursday, rescinded resolutions 75 days after “a majority of current Board of Education members were not signatories to the resolution or did not otherwise vote to adopt the resolution.”

Many teachers, parents and students are very upset. You can follow this at these links where it is easily traceable to the usual suspects. Terror of CRT, terror of dark folk knowing they matter, terror of white people knowing there are other people who matter, terror of knowledge, growth, connection, and democracy.
Young people don’t thrive in that kind of environment. Young people of any color.
“This is very important to me. It not only affects minority students, but all students," said Lauren Chance, a senior at Francis Howell North High School. "Honestly, Black history is American history and I think it's important that it's taught at our schools."
"Our students really wanted these electives. Our families really wanted them and our teachers really wanted them. It's important. It's been great," said Harry Harris, whose son is a student in the school district.
"I'm appalled and very disheartened for our students," said Becky Hormuth, a Francis Howell mom.
"It's a wrong move and I think their message is that they don't care about their students' learning," Chance said.

“You’ve certainly taught me to not underestimate how low you will go to show your disdain toward the Black and brown communities’ experiences and existence,” Harry Harris, a Black father, told the board.
