In WAYR?, I note what I’m reading and comment...you note what you are reading and comment. Occasionally, I may add a section or a link related to books…
I am reading:
The Assault on Reason by Al Gore- I read and retained enough of the material here (and there’s a lot) that I don’t feel that I have to start the book over for 2024
Wild Seed by Octavia Butler- This novel, however, I do feel as if I have to start over. I wasn’t bored with it or any thing…
And with this being the last Friday of 2023, I have a Year in Review.
Books I completed in 2023:
Patricia Highsmith: Her Diaries and Notebooks 1941-1995 by Patricia Highsmith and Anna von Planta
Clifford's Blues by John A. Williams
Adulthood Rites by Octavia Butler
Einstein: His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson
Imago by Octavia Butler
Suspect by Scott Turow
Found in the Street by Patricia Highsmith
Hermit in Paris by Italo Calvino
Valis by Philip K. Dick
On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King
Turning the Wheel: Essays on Buddhism and Writing by Charles Johnson
Brooding over Bloody Revenge: Enslaved Women’s Lethal Resistance by Nikki M. Taylor
The Lost Subways of North America: A Cartographic Guide to the Past, Present, and What Might Have Been. Written and illustrated by Jake Berman
Completed 13 books. I have to do better than that. In fact, I do feel as if I read a lot this past year considering that I did some very real challenging books...but still…
What’s also reflected in the year-end list is that I read physical books much faster than I read them on my Kindle. I need the Kindle, though, because I don’t have the room to have any more books.
I also need to do more formal reviews of books. And I need to incorporate some of the more informative and enjoyable magazine articles that I’ve read into my weekly lists.
