Poorer World
War is instant poverty –
What treasures and resources
Lost,
Like the sphinx's nose,
Throughout all our history
And potential ways
From lust for power, fear and greed?
We are a curious species
And would build the passage to the stars
And know the defeat of disease
Without the goad of wars' "defense"
That mythic lie
To justify
The septillion dollars spent and gone
Since humans stood upon two feet
And chose to kill each other.
