For the second time this month, the State Department has circumvented Congressional oversight to transfer $147.5 million in arms to the Israeli government. Senator Tim Kaine (D) of Virginia railed against this practice as it “keeps the American people in the dark about the rationale behind such transfers.” www.washingtonpost.com/...Despite the staggering civilian death tolls and limb amputations wrought by the IDF in its war in Gaza, we have just provided more 155 mm artillery shells and equipment to facilitate the destruction. The Executive branch is out of step with Democratic senators on the Armed Services Committee.
Interestingly, the Israeli media has just declared that “BN’s regime is the worst in Israeli history ” on the one year anniversary of his taking office. Itay Stern of the WaPo writes on December 30, 2023:
“Terrible and bloody: the worst government in the history of Israel marks a year,” wrote journalist Ben Caspit in the Maariv newspaper. Yossi Verter wrote in his weekly column in Haaretz: “On the anniversary of this failed government, the public is united in wanting to see its leader go.” Tal Shalev summed up the year on the Walla website with the headline: “The right-wing government devoted its entire first year to fight with domestic enemies, both in routine and in war.”
Yet, we fulfill the weapons request of such a “popular” regime.
