While most U.S. media has its international news attention trained on events taking place in the Middle East and Ukraine, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali of Guyana is making Caribbean and South American headlines. I doubt that most Americans would recognize him, much less follow happenings in Guyana—specifically the current tense situation created by neighboring Venezuela and President Nicolas Maduro.
Maduro is threatening to seize approximately two-thirds of Guyana—namely the entire Essequibo region, which Venezuela insists is its own historic territory. However, the claims and threats began with a major oil discovery in Essequibo in 2015. The majority of inhabitants of the area are English and Guyanese Creole speakers of Indian, African, or mixed ancestry. www.dailykos.com/...
So to sum things up Venezuela is willing to give up the oil deal with the US and control of Chevron? They are willing to risk the Panama Canal to be closed to all their shipping not just oil?
This is a test we fail China and North Korea will think we don’t have enough weapons or political support for what would otherwise likely be a quick war.
Venezeula hopes the rest of South America does not get involved?
Their goal make no mistake is to keep Chevron a big cash generator for their economy.
I suggest a US fighter raid over the Presidential Palace of Venezuela make it quick we can’t afford an other war especially a long one.
We need to show Russia, China and North Korea their leaders will be targeted first.
If we wait Iran will close the Persian Gulf to oil tankers next. A month or 2 with no oil North Korea and China will feel safe to attack.
We need to give whatever weapons short of Nuclear Weapons to Ukraine now to punish Russia I am sure they planned this and show them their plan won’t work.
Or worse case scenario is
Saudi Arabia and Russia both recently wanted to cut back on pumping oil. Palestine gives Saudi Arabia and the other Arab nations political cover to cut back on oil production.
Russia will of course agree to further cuts it buys them Arab support in the UN for whatever peace deal Russia wants with Ukraine.
Iran won’t need to risk a US attack by closing down the Persian Gulf if the Arab countries and Russia decide to stop pumping oil over Palestine.
Joe will look weak if he is forced to give into Venezuela, he will look more weak if Ukraine runs out of oil for their tanks and Russia has oil for their tanks our tanks use an incredible amount of fuel.
We can’t let a long period of time go with an oil boycott Israel needs to be told make peace give Palestine a state they want. Sure catch the leader of Hamas soon or make it clear Hamas can’t even be a political party.
Heck in return for a state and heaps of money to rebuild all Palestine political parties must accept Israel’s right to exist. Tell Israel Palestine can be a buffer state from invasion.
Even a dollar more a gallon for gas Joe will lose the election.
Now then do we have the time to do something?
Is Venezuela massing troops at the border of Guyana or do we have time for a diplomatic solution meaning Venezuela keeps Chevron. Maybe the IMF can give Venezuela a loan or better a grant to pay their debts? Venezuela can’t pay off their debts they are way too big.
Or do we risk Iran either closing the Persian Gulf or organizing an oil boycott with the Arab oil producing countries?
Would the Saudis, Russia etc agree to stop producing oil?
The Saudis gave Jared $2 billion dollars they would like Trump back in the White House. Russia and Iran would love to stop pumping oil to spite us that is a given. China and North Korea will be very tempted to take South Korea and Taiwan if their is an oil production shutdown for a month or two they know we and NATO have given much of our ammo to Ukraine they know they won’t have a better chance to invade in decades.
Of course even with no war a dollar increase in the price of gas would elect Trump. Trump would repay the favor and Trump already is threatening his enemies I assume he will reward his friends.
