I don't even know what to make of this. Ars Technica has an article on a bill introduced by a female Idaho Senator and a Congresswoman that would make administering mRNA vaccines (like the COVID-19 vaccine and several others) a misdemeanor, punishable with a fine, jail time, or both.
The bill is sponsored by Sen. Tammy Nichols of Middleton and Rep. Judy Boyle of Midvale, both staunch conservatives who say that stand for freedom and the right to life.
Great, so two people with absolutely no medical background now fully understand what mRNA is and how it's used for vaccinations. They argue that because the COVID-19 vaccines were passed with Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), they didn't undergo enough testing. They don't mention any of this concerning the other vaccines already in place.
On top of that, both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines did ultimately go through a full vetting.
The EUAs for the two mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines were issued in December 2020 and the FDA has subsequently granted full approval to both (Pfizer-BioNTech's in August 2021 and Moderna's in January 2022). This was pointed out to Nichols in the hearing last week.
But the two medical professors behind this bill don't agree, stating:
..."may not have been done like we thought it should've been done."
Do doctors and the FDA need the approval of non-medical politicians to tell them how to do their job? No? I didn't think so.
Who knows how they "thought it should've been done". Also, who gives a shit. They went through the usual process after the EUA, and they have been safely used hundreds of millions of times worldwide with extremely rare, non-fatal side effects.
The fact that this is even a political issue should raise a gazillion reg flags, and the fact that it's being brought up by two people clearly out of their minds is worse. The vaccines they are clearly targeting are 100% political for no advantageous reason, and it makes my brain hurt to even conceive of such a thing.
But here we are. Two "pro-life" Republicans in a state in America advocating for outlawing a pair of vaccines that have saved millions of lives worldwide. Pro-life my ass. These are mindless drones attempting to kill people in the name of "may not have been done like we thought it should've been done". As if they are on the review board of anything mildly scientific.
It's so anti-science and anti-pro-life that if they ever came to realize this, their collective brain cells, all 10 or so, would explode.
