Hey, regarding all this atheist vs. believers flame war, I (exhaustively) repeat — there’s SO much dialogue regarding other issues out there that suggests,”If you don’t like something, don’t DO it.” Like abortion. If you don’t like it, don’t get one. Just don’t try to impose your thoughts/beliefs on others. If you don’t like gays, don’t be one. Etc., etc. But apparently Atheists feel that they are just so “victimized” that they have to cry out. And get their cries posted here. Apparently, my writing isn’t of sufficient quality to get into the spotlight. Fine. Whatever.
Look….I’m not trying to force anything down anyone’s throat. My parents never beat me over the head with the Bible. They taught by example. But we did go to church. We were Lutheran. For what that’s worth. I like the term “Catholic Lite.” But I digress.
The central message of the New Testament is basically, don’t be a dick. Be nice to others. Treat them as you would like to be treated.
I don’t consider the actions of people like Ricky Gervais to be in concert with that theme. The guy has made a f*g career out of bashing anyone who dares to have spiritual thoughts.
And one other thing. We liberals are fond of holding up Native Americans as a special group of people. And they are. And guess what? These “people” were quite “spiritual” in their own way.
I don’t see blogs/memes ridiculing Native Americans about their spiritual thoughts/beliefs. ‘Sup with that??
Once again, I offer you the most germane article on this whole topic:
