My MAGA sister shared this with me in my Messenger, and I couldn't remain silent. After responding to her, I clicked the link, which took me to a FB post (seen above), and wrote the following:
It's none of my business whether a man falls in love with another man. But what I do know is they can't help it. Some say they are the victims of genetic mishaps. Believe me, I have had many gay friends, and they do not have a choice other than to be alone for all their lives.
It used to be that the way they dealt with it, during a time when they could be killed or jailed for being gay, they'd marry a woman who would agree to allow him his basic nature, so she had someone taking care of her existential needs. But imagine living like that for both the man and the woman (there are many living like that to this day only it's usually a woman knowingly putting up with infidelity so she can still have a home). Gays reached a point where they couldn't do it anymore, and they came to realize they have a right to live their lives in the open and be happy. Just because someone wrote that men shouldn't be with men (and it's understandable why they'd write it—we evolved as male or female) someone writing it doesn't make it God's law. The fact that there is NO PROOF you can produce in a court of law that there is a god means we can't punish others using criteria that can't be proven to even exist. So far, in science, there is no proof there is or isn't a god. Many say, then you have no faith. I have faith that generally speaking, the sun will rise and set. I have faith that so far we can still breath the air. But to extend ones self to believing something others can't prove exists is to put yourself in a dangerous victimhood where you are told to believe what some other human thinks, and usually hasn't actually lived a life that would verify the credibility. Those writings of thousands of years ago become subjective and unwarranted. Two-three thousand years ago, we didn't know what we know now—that humans being born are not always wired the way we think they should be. Did you know there are babies born with BOTH genitalia? And as my gay friends admitted, they didn't CHOOSE to be gay. Who would choose a life where they will be brutalized by others on a daily basis? No one. They're stuck with it.
So don't sit in judgement of those who didn't get to choose the mental and physical mishaps of their birth. Just be like Christ (a person who does have some proof of existence) and be kind to all others while they suffer through their lives. If people are being honest with themselves about the teachings and history of Christ, they would KNOW he would never attack or hurt someone suffering from ANY dilemma. He didn't attack prostitutes or thieves or any of those who found themselves thrown into the downsides of life.
Did you know that most prostitutes were victims of childhood sexual molestation? The statistics are out there. Did you know that over 60% of women overweight were sexually molested as a child? And psychiatrists speculate there are another 20% whose brains completely blocked the memories of it, because it was so devastatingly horrific? They eat as a means of self-soothing over trauma they may or may not even remember. Research it. Check out the writings of John Bradshaw. Traumatized people need to be loved and treated with patience, not ridicule, hateful meanness and attacks.
So try doing what Christ would do. Be kind and patient no matter what is happening to another person. None of us possess all the knowledge there is to know.
Postscript:
Of course, I need to be more kind and patient to MAGAs. They don't know what they don't know. And as the investigations continue, the truth emerges that most of them who thought they were watching a true news media that has been around for many years, were in fact, being blatantly and maliciously lied to because some jerk wants lots of money and power over others.
I need to back up and rethink my anger at them.
