Hi all,
Seth Levi here from the SPLC Action Fund — the 501(c)(4) affiliate of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Our polling has shown that this year Democrats can win the Governor’s race in Mississippi.
The matchup is a lot like the Senate race between Doug Jones and Roy Moore in Alabama— the Republican incumbent Governor Tate Reeves is unpopular with GOP voters, and the Democratic candidate is excellent. And that’s why the SPLC Action Fund has endorsed Brandon Presley.
Now, our affiliate Super PAC, New Southern Majority, is going to make a big, early investment in the race, but we need your help.
There’s a major scandal in Mississippi over the misuse of $77 million in TANF/welfare funds that were spent on things like speaking fees for Brett Favre and a volleyball stadium.
The situation in Mississippi was recently featured on Last Week Tonight, and the reporter who broke the story just won the Pulitzer Prize.
More importantly, the scandal has taken a toll on Governor Reeves. Our polling shows that Mississippians have taken notice, making him more vulnerable than ever.
But this is not just about flipping a gubernatorial seat. A Democratic victory in Mississippi could help transform the lives of Mississippi residents.
Governor Reeves has refused to expand Medicaid in Mississippi, denying an estimated 300,000 people access to health care coverage. He has advocated for and overseen some of the most draconian laws on reproductive rights, which has also had an impact on access nationally. And instead of safeguarding TANF money to help Mississippians most in need, he took steps to hamstring the investigation into its reckless use.
New Southern Majority is launching our first ad this month to hold Reeves accountable, but it will be crucial that we are able to communicate with voters now through Election Day, which is why we need your help.
You can watch the first ad here (and that’s it at the top of the post).

Your contribution to New Southern Majority will go directly toward increasing ad buys and making sure that voters know how much damage the Reeves administration has caused. There is too much at stake in this election to sit this out and I hope we can count on your support today.

Thanks,
Seth
