I am working on an in depth diary full of documentation showing why Ron DeSantis should not be president. It is time consuming to write. However, in the meantime, I wrote this comment in response to another user (apparently a MAGA person) who tried to attack the Democratic Party after two speakers effectively took down Ron DeSantis on a video. Given the hostage taking by the Republican Party, I felt these comments were appropriate.

@Mickey Mouse of course, crack on the floor and homeless people on the streets is a good thing because it's red. [Mickey Mouse user said the same exact thing except they put blue in place of red] See how that works?

President George Herbert (that name will come up later with Trump) Walker Bush left with a recession. President Bill Clinton created 22 million jobs and during that time, legislation passed with Democratic Party votes addressing crime and drugs, and President Clinton reduced the deficit. "Bin Laden determined to strike US" was the title of an apparently ignored Presidential Daily Briefing and 9-11 took place which was used to justify two expensive and long wars during the President George W Bush administration and his second term also, interestingly, ended in a recession in which we lost 750,000 per month on average for the last three months of his second term. Ending the consequences of those policies, passing legislation to address the Great Recession and giving it time to work, meant we got to see the true consequences of cutting taxes for the wealthy and deregulation and removing investment and it led to 10% unemployment. However, President Obama with a Congress completely controlled by the Democratic Party, created the longest continuous peacetime period of private sector job growth in this nation's history while reducing the deficit. Donald Trump's preCOVID GDP growth wasn't as strong as President Obama's, he increased the deficit with a $2 Trillion tax cut for the wealthy which did not pay for itself. Trump, an extreme present hedonist, didn't realize that the benefit of fully tackling COVID with science and evidence based practices being promoted from the White House would mean that COVID would have been more under control and that would have helped the economy to recover from COVID and then he would likely have won reelection. Instead, he left with fewer people employed at the end of his term than at the beginning, the first president since HERBERT HOOVER (I promised you that name would come up) to accomplish that feat. He increased the deficit and left with an unemployment rate of 6.7%. President Biden took over after the first NON peaceful transfer of power in this nation's history and cut the employment rate almost in half to 3.4%, a 54 year low. He created 12 million jobs, more than were lost from COVID, reduced unemployment for people of color and created 800,000 manufacturing jobs, this done with a Congress with both chambers being controlled by the Democratic Party. He reduced the deficit while creating more jobs in 2 years than any previous president had created in 4 years. He got a lot of important legislation passed, the American Rescue Plan which helped create the jobs, the CHIPS Act to keep us from being dependent upon a hostile power, the first significant gun safety legislation in thirty years, the Respect for Marriage Act, the PACT ACT which republicans voted against the first time even though it helped veterans harmed by toxic burn pits like the president's son, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Legislation and we can't help but note that while it was always infrastructure week for Trump he never managed to pass any, you know, infrastructure legislation, and the Inflation Reduction Act, the first significant climate change legislation in this nation's history.

The midterms should tell the republicans that relying upon polls is a bad idea. The only reason that the Republican Party has control of the House of Representatives is because of gerrymandering and it took 15 (fifteen) votes for Kevin to, by giving away the store to the crazies, achieve his lifetime goal of being Speaker of the House of Representatives despite the Democratic Party winning more votes cumulatively.

Note that the last three republican presidents have left us with a recession and did NOT cut the deficit while the last three presidents who were/are members of the Democratic Party had extremely strong job growth and grew us out of terrible recessions and, at the same time, REDUCED THE DEFICIT. Republicans talk about creating jobs and reducing the deficit, but they actually lead US into recessions in which we lose jobs and they increase the deficit. Democrats create private sector jobs, lead US out of republican recessions, and create millions of jobs while reducing the deficit.

I must say that the graph of per Capita deaths for Florida (y axis) and dates (x axis) seems ALMOST #$#### criminal. It should NOT look like that. It makes me livid just to look at it. It's insane. Per Capita deaths ascending to the same heights (actually greater as unbelievable as that is) in July and August of 2021. I have a picture of the graph and it should eliminate him from being considered for dogcatcher, much less president. Unbelievable. California did much better per Capita as many have noted, but equally importantly, the graph looks like it should. As we get to August of 2021, we see a much lower per Capita death rate for California.

There is an extremely strong correlation between the percentage of the vote for Trump of a county, the county's per Capita death rate (positive correlation), and percentage of people vaccinated (negative correlation). And this isn't a case where correlation and causation are not related. Trump called it a hoax. Why wear a mask or socially distance or get vaccinated for a hoax? So, many of his followers didn't do any of the above. Of course, since eventually 60+% of republicans and 90% of democrats and a strong number of independents did get vaccinated, then more vaccinated people did get sick or catch it. That's because so many more people were vaccinated compared to those who were not vaccinated. DeSantis said that the per Capita death rate for the vaccinated is essentially zero, but he realized that going with science was a non starter for the MAGA people who dominate the GOP primaries and so he abandoned science and went all in on culture wars which doesn't help his voters, but it is what they demand. Republicans who, like DeSantis are well-educated and, therefore, know better pretend to be as ignorant as their followers.
