Well folks It’s over, for now, maybe?
Anyway, Thank you Ted Lasso.
They say people come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
You came for 3 seasons, right when we needed you.
You were a breath of fresh air in the midst of fear, death and misery.
This country was going through the height of a mental break down and you brought sanity, a respite from madness.
Just when we thought we’d never laugh again and the curtain was falling on humanity.
You tickled us with silliness and kindness.
You were smart and ended the series the way all the greatest series end, you tied up all the story lines very nicely. You left us fulfilled.
We are both sad yet satisfied that we have invested the last 3 years on our lives loving fictional characters that seemed real, characters that we could easily relate to.
How rare is that?
You left us wanting more. What happens next in the lives of these amazing characters?
But as they say in the business, “leave’em wanting more!”
I definitely want more Ted, but only if you bring the same level of quality and excellence, which I suspect you would.
Now a special word for two of my favorite characters.
Hannah Waddingham.
Wow.......
You were born to play the role of Rebecca.
To steal a line from the movie “Jerry Maguire” Hannah you had me at hello and you definitely had me when I realized you played that creepy, evil, nun-like character in Game of Thrones…... “shame!”
You could do no wrong.
You created a powerful, flawed, human, authentic, vunerable female comedic character that frankly I think is unequaled in TV sitcom history.
You’re a triple threat, you can sing, you brought a little physicality to your role and your dramatic acting could rival any of your peers.
I think we need a Rebecca spin off.
Hannah, I truly hope you win the Emmy for best supporting actress again this year, you are so deserving of it.
Then there is Sarah Niles! Thank you my friend for the character of Dr. Sharon Fieldstone. Thank you for portraying a fully well rounded human being woman of color. Powerful yet vulnerable, authentic and unapologetic. I pray Hollywood takes notice. We desperately need more characters like this.
I predict Ted will be back, the show may not be called Ted Lasso.
Perhaps he and his son will make a return visit to London?
Come on Ted, one more time?
What da ya say? A reunion season, pretty please?
Well, No worries....
The message in the final episode was received loud and clear,
“go live your life as best you can, find happiness and be kind.”
Ted reminds us in the closing minutes of the series, when he leaves a note for the character Trent Crimm, “it was never about me.”
Ted you are so right, Thanks for the chicken soup, we were sick and now our souls feel so much better because of you.
