Today is the birthday of my friend John in Ghana. He is 38 years old today. He almost didn’t make it, but here he is, still alive and kicking, and we are celebrating his life.
John has committed his life to helping others, especially those in the Buburam Refugee Camp in Ghana who are in desperate need. Because of his efforts at least four babies are alive who would have died. He is caring for people who literally, literally have no one and nothing between themselves and death. His health is fragile and he often goes hungry to give money for food to others but his unceasing efforts for others have been a blessing.
I am proud to call him a friend.
I had a story written about John’s music. He writes songs and performs at local venues to promote the work he does. His goal is to have his own multimedia company where he can promote the singing and dancing of the homeless children and youth living in the camp and on the beaches in Accra.
But I am not well today and don’t have the strength to do much more than this simple diary.
So I thought I would post a few pictures of John’s wife and children- Jude, 10, Gary, 7, and little Patience, 2 and a half. (John also has a daughter named Josephine who is 15 but I can’t seem to find any photos of her; Josephine lives with her mother in another part of Ghana.)
Happy Birthday John!
