Good Morning Gardeners and Browsers! Welcome to another Saturday of the gardening blog. We hope you enjoy your visit and come back often.
I’m subbing in for another gardener so this is a quick update of what’s going on in my yard and neighborhood along with an Open Thread. Please jump in with your questions and advice. We all learn from each other.
And, of course, there are photos….
An neighborhood gardener has been expanding their front yard garden to include the strip between sidewalk and street. This is such a pretty English looking spot.
This is what is behind me if I turn around from the above photo’s location. The gardener’s color combinations are really pretty.
One more from that same garden as the above photos!
This one is just down the street….can someone identify it as I forget.
One more down the same street. This gardener also loves a pink color palatte. When I told them I featured some photos of their gardens here, they were just thrilled! And I don’t know what this is, either…..
Another neighbor’s hydrangeas are huge this year! I just love touching these. They feel like soft pillows.
Update from my vegetable garden: These are the blossoms on the rattlesnake pole beans. The seed package says the beans get 8 inches long. They are sweet tasting if eaten raw. Really neat to watch these grow as I’ve never planted pole beans before. I am using tall tomato cages but next year I’ll set up the tall teepee shaped poles. These beans “travel”! I’m training them along the green plastic fencing. I also have haricot verte bush green beans with pretty white blossoms. Bean harvest in the near future!
We’ve been deluged with rain in many parts of NYS. The very center of Central NYS where I live dodged the worst of the recent storms. More to come over the next 4 days unless the weather pattern shifts. The early spring heat has been the main garden problem. Some flowers and vegetables bolted and/or got “leggy” — tall and tilting over. I’m going to buy a shade cloth for next year. My in ground garden space is small enough that I can get one that will drape over the fence.
So what’s on your minds this morning about YOUR gardens, in ground and/or in pots?
