On this date one year ago, “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day” posted our original profile of Mary Miller, the sitting U.S. House Representative for Illinois’ 15th Congressional District, first elected to office in the 2020 elections, and who is the wife of a fella we’ve already profiled, Chris Miller. We will say right now, though, that while her husband was up to his eyeballs in sedition on January 6th, Congresswoman Miller isn’t exactly just getting guilt by association, she’s making statements and doing questionable things all on her own that make it clear the both of them have made it clear they don’t really take that oath they swear to the Constitution very seriously.
After winning office to replace the climate change denying monolith, John Shimkus, Mary Miller’s first days in Washington saw her focused solely on spreading Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” of election fraud, and she claimed the 2020 election was “tainted”, saying her first priority in DC was to challenge the election results (even though she won office in them). She was quickly gaining favor among Trump loyalists that she managed to snag herself a speaking slot at the pre-coup attempt rally hosted by Moms of America on January 5th, 2021, where she talked about what “Hitler got right”, and then quoted the f***ing head of the Third Reich in the middle of our nation’s capitol. And there’s video of her saying it:
She gave a half-hearted apology three days later, because she also had the embarrassment of her husband having hung out with seditionists that stormed her new workplace to try and murder the Vice-President for not setting Donald Trump as America’s authoritarian dictator two days later. But, y’know, she was talking about how cool Hitler was, guys were jumping through the Capitol Building’s windows wearing “Camp Auschwitz” shirts, it seemed to be a whole theme of the coup.
Anyway, after several months of just being an awful legislator who kept her mouth shut to not praise Adolf f***ing Hitler unprompted again, Miller started to get a little cocky, and was trying to stir the pot of homophobic and transphobic bulls*** the GOP were cooking up going into the 2022 elections, claiming Democrats and teachers were “grooming” America’s youth to be victims of abuse. At CPAC in February of 2022, Miller was trying to write an alternative history where “God was taken out of our schools”, when based on the separation of church and state, he shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
So with all her fearmongering about recognizing more than two genders and not letting the Fundies start having church revivals in homeroom, it was not at all surprising that Mary Miller’s 2022 re-election campaign was employing a known child sex offender who tried to lure and underage boy on the internet.
Republican Hypocrisy? Doing something worse than what you accuse the other side of? THE HELL YOU SAY.
If we haven’t painted enough of a picture for you that this lady is the worst, she gleefully celebrated Roe v. Wade with Donald Trump at her side being overturned by putting the ruling in a… very racial context. And yes, there’s video again:
Her spokesman tried claiming she misspoke and meant to say “right to life”, but it’s hard to give someone who glowingly thinks of Hitler and is dead set on supporting a white nationalist like Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt here.
Because frankly, she legislates to reflect the things she blurts out:
- January 6th, 2021: Mary Miller votes for the objection to the electoral college’s votes in the 2020 election, a failure to send any sort of message that he wasn’t intimidated or sympathetic to those who attacked the Capitol to attempt a violent coup.
- January 13th, 2021: Rep. Miller votes against the second impeachment of Donald Trump, because the Republican Party no longer feels like they should be accountable for anything, including failed coups that result in the deaths of both their participants and police officers.
- February 8th, 2022: Miller co-sponsors the “Secure Our Borders First Act”, an attempt to block military aid to our ally, Ukraine, in their conflict with Russia, until Donald Trump’s useless f***ing wall on the U.S./Mexico border is completed.
- February 24th, 2021: Mary Miller sponsors the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2021, which would be a white nationalist’s wet dream, as it’s an unconstitutional attempt to ignore the part of the 14th Amendment that guarantees birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented immigrants.
- February 25th, 2021: Miller votes against HR 5, the latest version of the Equality Act, that would provide workplace protections for LGBTQ Americans.
- March 2nd, 2021: Rep. Miller sponsors the “Safety and Opportunity for Girls Act”, a innocuous enough sounding name for a bill, but in reality, it was revolting anti-transgender legislation.
- March 3rd, 2021: Rep. Miller votes against HR 1, a bill created to prevent the corruption of money in politics, and protect voter access to the ballot box.
- March 3rd, 2021: Mary Miller votes against the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021.
- March 10th, 2021: Miller votes against the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, because he feels people deserve to die in poverty during a pandemic.
- March 17th, 2021: Rep. Miller votes against the re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act, likely because they feel the 2nd Amendment remaining absolute is more important than preventing people with a history of domestic abuse from owning a firearm (which statistics show, makes them more likely to use those firearms against women in their lives).
- May 19th, 2021: Mary Miller votes against HR 3233, the creation of a commission to investigate the Capitol Attack.
- May 20th, 2021: Miller is one of 63 Republicans who vote against the Covid-19 Hate Crimes Act.
- June 15th, 2021: Rep. Miller is one of twenty-one Republicans who pick a side to have rooted for in the failed coup attempt on 1/6/21 and votes against awarding Congressional gold medals to members of the Capitol Police who bravely defended members of Congress during the attack
- June 29th, 2021: Miller is one of 8 Republicans who travel to the U.S./Mexico border to do photo-ops to stir up anti-immigrant furor, but also appear on camera with Capitol insurrectionist Anthony Aguero, as if he wasn’t a part of an attack on Congress less than six months prior.
- November 5th, 2021: Mary Miller votes against HR 3684, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
- May 18th, 2022: Mary Miller is one of 192 Republicans who vote against HR 7790, to create supplemental funding for infant formula (while claiming to be pro- life).
- May 18th, 2022: Rep. Miller votes against HR 350, the Domestic Violence Prevention Act, because these days, a plank of the Republican Party is ostensibly domestic terror.
- May 19th, 2022: Miller votes against HR 7688, a bill which would help prevent gas companies from gouging customers on prices.
- July 13th, 2022: Rep. Miller votes against the Honoring Our PACT Act, to provide healthcare to veterans affected by toxic burn pits while serving in the War on Terror that leave them more susceptible to forms of cancer.
- July 15th, 2022: Mary Miller votes against House Amendment 262, which would require the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Secretary of Defense to publish a report on the infiltration of American law enforcement by Neo-Nazis and white supremacists, offer measures to be taken to remove them from their ranks, and prevent further infiltration by others.
- July 19th, 2022: Rep. Miller is one of 157 Republicans who vote against the “Respect for Marriage Act”, which would codify same sex marriage into law nationally.
- July 21st, 2022: Miller is one of 195 Republicans who vote against the Right to Contraception Act, which codified the right of Americans to have access to birth control.
- September 29th, 2022: Mary Miller is one of 49 Republicans who vote against HR 8888, the Food Security for All Veterans Act.
- December 1st, 2022: Rep. Miller is doesn’t bother to show up to vote for HR 6878, meaning he is perfectly fine with pregnant women in prison being placed in solitary confinement while claiming to be “pro-life”.
- December 6th, 2022: Miller, embracing the GOP’s white nationalist, anti-immigrant sentiment votes against HR 7946, which was meant to honor the promise to grant citizenship to immigrants who served in the United States Armed Forces.
- December 21st, 2022: Mary Miller can’t be bothered to show up to vote for the Respect for Child Survivors Act, a bill created to aid the survivors of child abuse, which shows you how much the GOP truly care about stopping “groomers”.
- July 13th, 2023: Rep. Miller is one of 70 Republicans who vote for an amendment that would cut all U.S. funding to support our ally, Ukraine, to repel a Russian invasion.
After redistricting in 2022 left some members of the Illinois Republican caucus having to play musical chairs for their house seats, Mary Miller was forced into a GOP Primary with veteran Republican Congressman Rodney Davis, which to our dismay, she actually advanced out of with 57% of the vote in spite of saying nice things about Hitler and hanging out with a pedophile, but Republicans flocked to her because Davis voted to create a January 6th commission, infuriating Donald Trump and netting Miller his endorsement. And OF COURSE GOP voters are still hung up on the blessing of the former guy.
We hope someone can successfully knock her out of office in the GOP Primary, for no other reasons than doing so in the spirit of “F*** Nazis”, we also believe, “F*** anybody who speaks highly of them.”
