I don’t watch cable TV but I do listen to MSNBC while driving. Recently, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend of ads from companies that don’t promote common sense or appeal to progressivism or reason, e.g.:
--gold companies (at least 2 of them), all prefaced with hedging against US currency collapse, government controlling everything in your bank accounts, “centralized government currency” and “ever rising inflation” and “bank failures”—um, all old news by now?
--California Psychics (I mean, really, is that progressive? Appeal to magic and woo—isn’t that more conservative nowadays?)
--delinquent tax help companies (at least 3 of them)—one of them purport to act by “Christian principles” (I have no clue what that means with regards to the IRS except, um, “render unto Caesar what’s due Caesar”?) and others threaten the deluge of IRS audits made possible by $80 billion of hiring (which is not even accurate any more). Last I checked, IRS getting tax cheats from rich people is progressive?
--gas discount programs (because gas is expensive still? Have they turned on the news recently?)
These are just some of the more egregious ads that keep repeating on Sirius XM. I’m sure I left out others. I have no clue what happens on cable TV since I don’t watch it, but I hate to switch the channel 10 times an hour to avoid these ads.
